  1. I just tore my banshee down because it was slipping out of 2nd gear. I found that the shift fork was bent and burnt. I also replaced the shift drum, it had lots of wear. While the cases wear split it shifted into gear properly and engaged into gear properly. I just got it running tonight and the big pile of shit does the same thing it did before. Can anyone help me on this matter? Trust me I'm not partial to yamaha and I will be riding a diferent brand very soon if I don't get this figured out.

  5. What does the shiftstar mod do? I have read about it but not sure what the problem is with it.
  6. I just got done checking it over very closely. I think I have a couple minor problems causing this. I have a shift fork that is slightly bent and has wear. The gear that engages into 2nd also has a rounded edge. My shift drum looks good only slight wear but thats expected of a 98 model. My shift shaft has about 1/16 movement up and down from the case having wear. Is there a cheap and easy way to fix that.
  7. I have never noticed it bind up in 2 gears. Clutch and basket both look good. I didn't check to see if forks were bent. I figured they would just break instead of bend they appear to be made out of pot metal. While shifting through the gears with the top case off everything appears to be normal. Only reason I'm saying shift shaft is because Jim at Jims sand toys told me that could do it.
  8. My banshee has been grinding in 2nd gear. If I'm in 2nd and just slowly ease into the throttle it will stay in gear. If I'm drag racing it will make grinding noise and not move while in 2nd. All the other gears seem good. I tore the engine apart and I don't see anything that is obviously wrong with it. I was expecting to see some totally thrashed gears but they look very good to me. I'm wondering if the shift shaft could cause this problem?
  9. I just won a seat on ebay. I needed the complete seat After seeing prices of used carbs I'm thinking I'm just gonna buy aset of new ones. Mine were all gummed up from sitting and just have issues....I don't think I wanna buy someone elses old used carbs and get another set of carbs that have problems.
  10. I need a good seat with no tears. Black or yellow. I don't want to pay for some fancy crap either, just a plain ole seat in good shape. I also need a set of carbs. I prefer them off of a newer machine. I just bought this machine this fall as a project, I took it to Little Sahara once and I know I need this stuff for sure. I'm trying to get it 100% before the harescramble series starts in Feb. I want prices with shipping included to 67835, I would also like to see some picutes before I send money, I prefer paypal.   11. I have shipped a 250R motor. I got a strong card board box and added a piece of paneling at the bottom. Packed it extremely tight. I shipped it with usps. It was cheap to ship with them but I'm sure a banshee motor wieghs over the limit for them.
  12. They even found his house on terreserve? website and got a close up shot of it. They have doen about everythign you can think of to this guy. Last I read they were taking up donations to buy a spot on a billboard by his work place.

  18. I got it fixed. I had to lower the float just a touch. I am wondering if my rings just hadn't seated in on that cylinder yet. I went out and rodded the hell outa it and it is running good now. This thing is unreal fast compared to my old 250r
  19. Check your needle seats to see if they are sealing up. Some how the it sounds like the gas isn't getting shut off.
  20. Na this is not normal. I have been runing 250R's and know what the normal 2 stroke black gunk is. This is just raw gas running out. I'm going to check my float level tomarrow, I'm guessing it is set way to high.
  21. I bought a project 1998 banshee about a month ago. I have installed new Wiseco 0.080 pistons. Honed the cylinders I only have 0.05 piston clearance. Installed used stator. Cleaned both carbs. I have 30 idle jets and 230 mains the needle are 1 groove from the top. It has a dune port, DG pipes, Boyesen Pro series reeds, and open air box with KN. The windows on both carbs are very foggy so I can't see thorugh them to syncronize the carbs. I did watch the slides both are opening at the same time. Problem is the right cylinder is smoking white and runnnig lots cooler then the left. I think it is firing but not very well. I have raw fuel running out of the seem between the pipe and silencer. I have removed the plug and it does have spark. I have also checked compression both cylinders are the same. Please tell me whats wrong with it. Thanks
  22. Well thanks for the info. I also have the 14t that the machine came with. I'll try it and if I like it, I'll buy a 15 and 16 and see how they perform. Hopefully I will have it running this evening so I can take it out. I have been without a perfromacne machine since right after laborday and I'm going nuts.
  23. I have always been a guy to gear my machines way down. I just bought 12/40 gearing. My thought is I never have long enough staights to get it up to 6th. I prefer riding trails and like the lower gearing. Seems to me with 15/41 or higher you would be slipping the clutch all the time in trails.

  25. I ride at little sahara lots. I prefer lower gearing 13/41 or 12/41. I barely ever get into 6th gear except for a short time. I also ride lots of the trails and prefer the low gearing for them. I think lower gearing is faster on the drags also. Becasue then you can start in 2nd.
