  1. Flag needs to reach 10ft from the ground. They’re available in all the stores in the area. Something like $20ea? I can’t remember for sure. It’ll bolt in the hole found on most rear grab bars. I keep an 18mm and 19mm wrench in my truck for that.
  2. No problem. I prefer skat trak extremes. I have been using a set of 20x10-10’s with 9 paddles. Worked very good with the stock-ish engine through 5th gear. Just got some 21x12-8’s with 10 paddles this week to match my 421 serval a little better. The serval was spinning the 20s too much at the drag strip. I will sell the 20s if the new setup works out.
  3. You’ll need spark arrestors at SLSD, and a flag to reach the 10ft tall pole at the gate (available nearby). State park passes for all vehicles including trucks/cars (day passes are available), plus ORV and trail passes for anything that goes on the sand. I like to get in early, with my shee in the bed of my truck. This way I avoid any sound testing. They open at 8 or 9am, I get there before 10. Park somewhere out of the way on the sand and unload.
  4. Curious if you have had any luck? I’ve got a Serval 421 in the works, going to run it on pump gas with T5’s and stock carbs for the rest of the season at least. My old 66mm bore stocker seemed to like 320 mains with 2-3 degrees advanced timing.
  5. Great project so far. I know how much work goes into custom one-off creations like these. Thanks for sharing the progress here. I don't want you to take this the wrong way, as I don't have any experience with 2-stroke efi tuning. But I really don't think the O2 sensor is going to last. Why else would 2-stroke snowmobile efi systems use EGT probes instead? Surely an O2 sensor must be more accurate then a temperature sensor for fuel metering. And I'm sure it'll last long enough to get a baseline tune, but I'm not sure it'll last as long as 500+ hours. If you have something that says it will last, it'd be cool to see it!
  6. I just stumbled across it while eating my lunch, that same forum has lots of nice pictures of some cool desert race trucks. Check out the features forum if you get a chance. I saved the pictures to my work computer to drool over whenever I get the chance. LOL I just assumed it was a Sundahl because of the overlapping a-arms. Apparently I don't know what they look like yet! Thanks for clearing that up. I don't like how steep the rear shock is mounted either. I'd have to ride it or see it in action to see if it's effective. My guess is it would have to be set up pretty stiff and with a hard spring to be even close. But I have seen V8 powered buggies with coilovers up front at a similar angle. At any rate, there's some good fabbing skills behind that shee!
  7. Hmmm, that's a bit too far for me to travel for a parts bike. Thanks for the tip though. Somebody is going to get a good deal!
  8. Sundahl frame. Custom fabbed rear swinger with a no-link elka shock in it. Pretty wild lookin shee! http://www.race-dezert.com/forum/showthread.php?t=30861
  9. Came across these and thought someone might want to grab them. Not my sale. Adjustable LRDs, pipes only no silencers. $100 http://detroit.craigslist.org/mcy/355306195.html
  10. Be ready to rejet, even if you're already jetted for methanol. Nitromethane has oxygen in it already, so you need a lot more fuel to keep the mixture right. Methanol burns at roughly 5.0-6.0:1 with air. In comparison, nitromethane burns at 1.7:1. You will DEFFINITELY feel the extra power, nitromethane makes over twice the power as methanol! Racing fuel rock I would try mixing small amounts of nitromethane with the methanol first, maybe 1/4 to 1/2 gallon per 5 gallons of methaol. Keep a close eye on the fuel mixture though. And here's a link to back me up, all about gasoline vs methanol vs nitromethane http://www.smokemup.com/tech/fuels.php If you do try some nitromethane/methaol mix be sure to post about it!!
  11. Nice buy! 600cc sleds is all I'll get any more. Less weight than the bigger sleds, and just as quick from 0-100
  12. I can't make any decisions for you, hell I can't make decisions for myself hardly! But i can tell you that the comunicator i have on my snowmobile helmet has speakers that stay in the helmet. They mount below the foam padding. Look into getting some replacement speakers for one of the many communicators available, then you can hook them up to whatever you want.
