  1. I dont know if id go so far to say they hit harder. I have never riden, or saw a shee with rockets. Im sure that they both hit equally hard. I think the shearers have a few more peak rpm, probably not enough to base your choice on that alone, how much power are you really making at 11,500 rpm. What loco is saying is the rockets may have a bit more low end power. I dont think you could go wrong either way.

My shearers have a violent hit, and pull like a freight train, if i had to do it over again, i would make the same choice

  2. No, it is not.  In order to run high compression domes you need to weld the crank?  Also, is it worth it or not to run the high compression domes?

ALthough i would recomend it, its not totally nessecary. The high compression domes should make a nice difference, specially in the low end. 108 should be more than enough depending on what domes you run, youd probly be safe with 50/50 race gas, 93 pump, up to a 19, maybe even 18 cc dome

  3. Glad to see ya here Don... When ya get the shee do you plan on trying 2 dozen different pipes like you have on the 450? You would be an all star in the jetting and exhaust forum. Hopefully next time we go riding, the shee will run all day :shootself: I think youll like it here. Lots of helpfull people that know thier shit, more so than most of the other sites.

Led you crack me up man... where do you find that shit :rotflmao:

  4. Ive taken a few piped Shee's on my raptor, I have also beat a few piped raptors on my shee when it was just piped. Its all rider guys. A 300 ex could beat a shee if the riders were good / bad enough. Personally i hate these "who will win" threads. Get off your ass, go start your bike and find out.

  5. fmf asks for a 30 pilot on there site and ive got one in and it runs great, but the 27.5 wont hurt.

I tried the 30 pilot on mine last year and it was so damn rich it wasnt funny.

Postal, last year when i had only FMF's and reeds i was running a 280 main, and 27.5 pilots. Look me up if you need help. We live close to one another

  6. halfway there. I got it to fire...3rd kick :headbang: . I couldnt have been happier......

Then i noticed it was only hitting on the ride side at idle  .....Im guessing that is probably a jetting issure though since when i give it gas and it gets to 2000-2500 rpm it kicks in. Kinda late to mess with that though. I doubt the neighbors would like that one bit.

    Thanks a lot guys. :cheers::notworthy:

  7. Well I checked the continuity of the stator, and its good, however I havnt yet checked the output. I then pulled the flywheel to check the woodruff key and all seems well there too. I dont know exactly what a sheared one would look like, but mine looks perfect, so Im ruling that out. Tonight after work I will check the rest of the wires / connections.

This sucks, i have a sanctioned drag race event sunday that i would really like to make it to.

  8. I would definitely swap out the plugs.

You're probably gonna find it's the ignition wires, the symptom sounds right. They will sometimes give a good spark on a visual check or at idle, but the spark will break down under load.

Swapping plugs was one of the 1st things i did. When the problem started i had old ones in. I put new ones in and it soon started to get worse. It wasnt right away, but slowly worse, to the point Im at now.

By ignitiion wires do you mean the plug wires, or just some other wire that is part of the ignition circuit?

Lastly, how do i check the wattage, and spark?

    thanks a lot guys

  9. Took it out today, got about 10 hours on my new motor. Ran Strong all last weekend and earlier this week, jetting was almost spot on, tad rich on the main, but it was close and pulled good throughout the powerband. Always started right up, 2nd/3rd kick all the time.

Earlier this week I noticed somthing wierd when riding. I was luggin it in 4th, and slipped the clutch to get on the pipe, and when i pulled the clutch. It did nothing. No rev, no noise... It was like the motor completly cut out, slipped it a 2nd time and got the same thing. Third time was the charm. Got the pipe after that. This was the only time it did this. Also on the same day I noticed it was breaking up at WOT, not bad though. STill pulled hard but rather than a smooth "raaaaaaa" it was like" raaa ba raaaa baba raaa" LOL you know what i mean.

Here is where it gets bad. Today it was starting to break up real bad @ WOT, so i tried swithing the jetting. Helped briefly, but the problem soon got worse, and spread to other spots of the powerband. Little later it was REAL bad on the bottom. It was all i could do to keep the thing alive under 6000RPM, and even when it was above that the power sucked. So more jetting right... go tune, now it wont start....get a tow and try it. Bogging even worse now. At this point i had been from a 160 to a 175 main, tried 48, 50, and 52 pilots, and moved the needle everywhere. Since i was lost I called Jim at passion. He said he thought that it could be an ignition problem... possibly a sheared woodruff key or somthing????? Bu tive yet to check that.

Then my friend asked me if I had my lights on the entire time. I am not 100% sure but i think they were, and he said they werent on the entire time. So i started to think possilbly a fried statorl. But Im only running 35W trailtechs so WTF? I checked for spark when i got home and i get a nicde blue spark. (not sure whats normal since i never checked it before but it looked okay to me :shrugani: )

Sorry for the extremly long post, just wanted to get all the info out there so you guys could give your opinions. Ive been banghead all day
