Hi Guys, I wanna touch up my a arms. Should I have them sprayed or powdercoated? CHeers, Percy

I think he's a little more respectable than that. 287760 Yeah, I also contacted Ricky Stator and he confirmed the 55w lights will run on the stock stator, but will be yellowish, not bright white. I also heard that the wiring may heat up and damage stuff over time, so I am gonna put the stock lights back on for now and then upgrade the stator some time in the future, Thanks to all for the help Percy-Zn South Africa

Hi SDD, Thanks again for the info. I am gonna put the std lights back on, till i organise a larger capacity stator, Cheers, Percy

You can melt the stators lighting coil wires. Have your stator rewound or buy a new high wattage stator from ricky stator. 286408 Hi SDD, U sure it will melt the stator wiring? If so, then I am not risking it, and will put the stock lights back on. I am South Africa, so a bit of a mission to buy a stator from Ricky Stator. By the way I did email them and they did not mention the chance of burning the stator out, just said the lights would look dim and yelowish, Cheers, Percy

My 55w Hellas were dim compared to how they are now with the aftmkt stator, so chances are, your 55w lights are dim also compared to how they're supposed to be. Like I said, it won't hurt anything, but I'd try to find some 35w bulbs to try out also and see if there is a difference. 286309 I really appreciate the help. I dont ride at night at all, so dont mind if they are a bit dim. I just like the look of them on the bike. I have searched all round town and cannot get any 35w globes for these lights, so my options are either stock lights, or these 55w ones. If you sure they wont hurt the Stator, then I will leave these 55w one on, as they look trick. If the stator does ghet hurt, does it affect ignition, or just kill the lights circuit? I am racing this Sunday and dont want to risk dropping out, just to have kewl looking lights! U sure they wont hurt anything? Thanks, Again, Percy-Zn

Hi Boonman, Looks like you got a lot of know how on lights/stators etc! I want to replace the stock headlights on my 01, with some 55w aftermarket spotlights. I am not worried about the amount of light they put out, as I only ride in the daylight. I just like the look of them. For enduro racing we have to have 1 rear facing light and headlights. If I fit these 55w headlights, added to my 35w rear light will this blow my stator, or will the lights just be dimmer, ie the whole system will only run at 105w (Banshee Std Stator) If this is the case, I am happy, but I do not want to blow the stator. If the stator does blow, does it affect ignition, or just kill all the lights? Appreciate the help Rgds, Bruce

OUr local autoparts store sells neat small round lights, that will fit the shee. They are 55w per headlight. I heard the std stator on the shee is about 105. I have a 35w breaklight and had the 2 std shee headlights at 35w each, making 105. If I fit the 2 55w lights, will my stator blow? Appreciate the help Bruce

Hi there, I am considerign replacing stock headlights with halogen spots. Local shop has them that fit the std mounting. They are 55w halogen globes. They seems to run quite dim when at idle, but at speed look gr8. As they are 55w, will they do any damage to the stock stator/electrical system, by pulling more power? Rgds, Bruce

Buy "ignition", I'm guessing you mean the keyed switch? That's typically where they go. 284534 Yeah, I wanna take the keyswitch right out and put it on the bars in the middle. Any of you guys bought it with the billet trailtech computer holder? Was this easy to fit? Cheers, bruce
-
Thanks for the info I have a dead man switch on the shee, so will use that to kill it. Will wire the lights to be always on, and will wrap up the plugs well Thanks, Bruce

I saw a Banshee the other day, with the ignition switch and the on/off light switch console completely removed. Looked really good. Anyone done this mod? Appreciate any advise on how to do and how easy it was. Cheers, Bruce

I am going to be putting a trailtech computer onto my 01 Banshee soon. Have you guys removed your ignition swtich and mounted the computer there? If so, is it easy to remove ignition? Thanks, Bruce

symtoms matched probs I had a while back, Turned out there was an air leak, and a ring was broken, which rendered the piston and barrel useless. Had to resleeve and put new pistons. Goes like a bomb now

Definately no water got in. It was quite hard to start though, even when I put the filter back on. Normally starts with 2 kicks. Was that just cause it was all gunged up and flooded from me trying to start it with no air...?
-
Hi Guys, Today I did a stupid thing. Washed the shee and when I do this, I take off the filter and block the airbox with a big cloth. Later in the day I decided to go for a spin round the block as I fitted the long range tank today. I tried to start it, (with the airbox still blocked) for about 30 mins. I kicked and kicked as well as tried to run start it down a hill. Once i relaised my error, I cleaned the plugs up, put the clean filter back in and after a few (20) kicks it fired up. I have run it up the road and seems 100%. Will this have done any damage? I shold not think so, as it did not fire up, so was not actually running without air? Appreciate any help/advice Cheers, bruce

Guys, I put the tank in place tonight ( I got the big 22l one (5.5Gallons) and when I turn full lock the bars touch the tank - Pls help/ I have Sabar Bars (not Std I dont think?) Many thanks, Percy

I bought the 22L (5.5Gallon) clear tank, so I can see the gas in it. I am fitting it this weekend. What are handlebar risers? JJ - The tank cost me R1500 here (US$230) It was on special, normally around R2500 ($380) Looking forward to being able to ride forever with it. If anyone has a good pic of exactly where the plastics are cut to fit this tank, pls email to me (not too high res) Shot,

Hi there, I am looking at two type of long range tanks. 1) 22L - Have to cut plastics to fit 2) 18L - Fitrs existing plastics. Does anyone have experience with this choice of tanks and which did you go for and why? Thanks
-
Hi Guys, Thanks for the feedback. I will get onto it this week and if I have any other questions will drop a line here. JJ - Good to hear from you again. I have left Botswana and am back in Pietermaritzburg. Enjoying riding the Banshee in the Natal Forests! Cheers, Percy

Hi, If I hold the rear disk brake there is some sideways and rotational play (about 1mm) The thing that the disk is bolted onto has movement on the axle, Is this normal or has something worn? I rarely use rear brakes and it does not seem to be a problem or getting any worse, just want 2 check if it is normal, Thanks, Bruce

Hi, thanks for the quick reply. I understand the stresses on the bearings will be greater and am wondering if it is worth doing this mod at all? I do a lot of trail riding, through quite tight forests etc and also a bit of jumping on the local track. I do not have spacers on the rear, so am wondering if having a wider front than rear is going to be very clever, especially in the forests? Maybe the wider track is good on sand, but not so good for where I ride. My bushes on the front A arms, are not in such good cond at present, I need to replace them sometime, so maybe the wide front will only make them worse? Thanks for any feedback. Cheers, Percy
-
Hi there, I have heard some guys change the front wheels around, so the track is wider. I would have to put the valve on the other side to do this. Has anyone does this mod? and if so, is it worthwhile? Does have the wide front trach help and can I leave the back axle as is, if I change the front like this? Is moving the valve and puting the front wheels back on inside out the only change I need to make for this? Thanks Bruce

Hi, Do you suggest running leaded or unleaded fuel in a Banshee, used for enduro racing Cheers, Percy
-
I have redone the top end on my 01 Banshee and am getting conflicting advice on running in. How long do I have to run it in for? and at what sort of speed shold I run when running it in? Appreciate any advice, Regards, Bruce

Hi Guys, Thanx for all the advice so far. I am getting some prices from other dealers in SA, and might find something better, otherwise maybe I should buy the gear in the US and ship it out here. Prices here certainly are scary, compared to what you guys are paying for the stuff there. Will let you'all know how I get on, Cheers, Percy-Zn
