  1. Most people run EGN or EGL. I run EGN on all my Keihns.
  2. I think a bad crank seal would mainly just suck oil, not pressurize the crankcase. I could be wrong. I'm having this problem on my 16 mil Cheetah, but I can't pressure test it because air flows freely around the plates on top of the powervalve assemblies.

  4. You can also program your parking brake rev limit to 12,000. rpms.
  5. I'd have to look at it again to be sure it is a Pingel. There are no "Pingel" logos on it. However, it comes with the bottle, bottle mounting bracket, lines, shift cylinder, pressure gauge, and thumb button. You would have to make brackets to mount it, and weld a piece of flat metal on the rear of your shift lever so that the shift cylinder can push it down to shift the lever up.
  6. Thanks Jeff! Man I feel bad that I didn't get these from you now :wallbash: I ordered them online at about 10:00 pm Monday (when I realized my compression was low), and paid next day air hoping to get them in 2 days...and I was afraid I wouldn't have time to call you or I would forget. Wish I would have...it took until today to get the damn things. I'm sure you have 'em right there on the shelf and I would've had them yesterday. On an unrelated note; that cascade pancake bearing you sent seems to work on the spring-loaded 8 plate hinson clutch. I won't know for sure until I run it Saturday.
  7. Putting new pistons and rings in my 421. Forget the formula for ring end gap. Also, anyone open up the bottom ring more, or is that a 4 stroke thing?? I read briefly about that.
  8. I witnessed at least some of those bikes make passes without filters. I guess they put them on in between races??? And yes they wouldn't think twice about putting in new pistons, trannys, shift forks, etc. after a few passes. They had a pit crew where every member had a job....one guy would be in charge of installing clutches, another in charge of transmissions, another in charge of carbs, etc. ON another note: What do ya'll think about running a K&N without oil to flow more? Just a thought. How much dirt really gets in there in non dusty conditions at the track?
  9. I don't need it. Its a pingel I think. I have a bad problem of not selling anything, even if I don't need it or use it anymore, but I may get rid of this. Make me an offer.
  10. THe Puerto Ricans did not run air filters at Gilbert. The record 3.29 at 97 mph bike did not have filters on it.
  11. Place them on the ground and beat them repeatedly with a hammer/baseball bat/pipe wrench ...j/k : I've had a terrible time with pvls, even though I still have them on 2 engines. I have some brand new coils that I always test as a reference to go by, but I don't know what they test at, and as you mentioned, Penton says it's not a reliable test.
  12. See if he will let you try them out first. How much do you weigh? That will play a factor in whether you can pull the 12 pdls effectively.
  13. I don't know that people do it to save the money, but rather some parts stores don't carry threebond, or its equivalents; and they just make the mistake of grabbing a tube of RTV or whatever.
  14. There was one my my 16 mil when I bought it, but I took it off. Seems like a waste and extra weight to me. It pushed the back of the shifter down, and you could also shift without it if you chose to. It was strictly pneumatic, with no ignition interrupt or solenoids.
  15. Thanks Snop    Oh, I forgot to mention that he's running SSTs if that matters. Either way, thanks for the starting point. It's pig rich on bottom right now.
  16. Hey Snop, I need some help with a single 35 mm also, for a friend. 300 ft elevation. I don't know what's in it now, but I can check. In general what would you recommend for this? Thanks
  17. You've gotten good advice. I agree with all. +7 is a good starting point.
  18. Yeah, I agree. I run them on a couple of mine but not necessary. ...and not sure if there is any gain at all....even on big motors.
  19. What were you doing when it locked up? Running WOT? Running WOT then letting off? Letting all the way out of the throttle when WOT can lock it up. I've done 2 like that, but they were not so forgiving. The needle plugs the main jet while the rpms are still up. Leans it out.
  20. Be sure to have some spare reeds handy.
  21. Why did you take the head off? Just run it. Check compression so you have a baseline.
  22. That shaft is one of the transmission shafts, so it can't be replaced without splitting the cases. Spot welding may work, others may chime in. I've had a hell of a time with those idler gears. The clip is always off on my 421 when I take the cover off, even with a steel bushing in the gear. On my 14 mil, the clip came off, then the gear came off enough to wedge behind the clutch basket, which broke the clutch hub and shot my lockup through the lexan clutch cover at the starting line at the dragstrip.
  23. He has a black 2005 Honda 450r. Bone stock, I think. Wants to trade for a Banshee in good condition.
  24. ????Alky likes more compression than gas. Gas domes run fine with my 421 on alky.
