This self tapping drain plug sounds interesting, its it a fairly common piece? Do you think Advace Auto would have something like this??

Ok guys, good news, everything came in and i am going to give this a shot this weekend. I have one more question however. When i drill and tap the hole and put the helicoil insert in, what do i do with that little metal tab that is still on the Helicoil? the instructions say to tap it off with a punch but i dont want that floating around in my case when i break it off. So, does anyone know how to break this little tab off without loosing it in the case or should i just leave it in there? Thanks
-
well guys, the next chance I get I'm going to give the helicoil a shot. I really dont have time to split the cases. If I was going to do that I would rebuild the whole thing anyway, which I dont have money for right now. So, I'm going to give it a shot with the motor still in the bike. I figgure that if I flush the tranny out with diesel it should get most of the shavings out. I'm not too fond of banshee transmissions but I doubt a little flake of aluminum will cause any damage to steel gears. So I think I'm going to take my chances. Do you guys think it'll turn out alrigth doing it like this?

Alright thanks for the help guys. If I was to do it myself do you think it would be easier to drain all of the gas out and tip it back on the grab bar, then drill out the hole and use the vacuum like you guys said? I'm pretty mechanically inclined and have fixed stripped bolts and stuff like this before but this is the first time I'm attempting to do it on something this valuable. I wouldn't want to mess anything up. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Hey guys, today when I went to change the oil in my Banshee I started to loosen the drain plug bolt. It was pretty hard to turn and I needed to use a wrench the whole time to back it out. When I took it off and started to let the oil drain I looked at the bolt and noticed that there were actually pieces of metal stuck in the threads of the bolt. My first thought was that I just stripped the bolt itself but upon further inspection I found that the threads in the bottom of the case were stripped. I thought up of all the possible solutions and I came up with drill the hole out and tap it for a larger bolt, buy a helicoil and fix it with that, or take it to a shop and have them deal with the mess. I narrowed it down to the helicoil or take it to a shop, but if I could, I'd rather save some money and helicoil it myself. My question is, how much disassembly of the engine is required if I was to fix it myself using a helicoil? Would I have to split the cases or anything like that? Also, if any of you guy had this happen to you and you took it to a shop, how much did it cost? Thanks

Hey! Great News! I fixed the problem All I did was take apart the float bowl/needle contraption, Clean it up really good, and re adjusted that little hanger. Everything works great and the quad is really running awsome. Thanks alot for all your help guys!

Thanks for your help. As far as the jetting goes i dialed it in perfect. It runs awsome with the 280 main, 32.5 pilot, and the airbox lid off. The plugs are a dark brown color. As for the needle valve, I'm going to take my carbs off after school, take it apart and see if i cant fix it again. Thanks for your help guys!

alright.... how hard is it to change one of these valves lol
-
Well it actually runs a pretty rich with the 280's in there. I had to take the airbox lid off in order to make it run perfect. Anyway, my right carb is still leaking gas. I took the carb off and cleaned it with carb cleaner and put it back on. It stopped leaking untill I started the quad and let it idle. Do you still think my floats are sticking? Could it be another problem? Any suggestions to solve it? I'm new to carbs and jetting so you'll have to bear with me, I'm still learning lol. Thanks guys!

Alright, I just put the 280 mains and the 32.5 pilots in. I rode it wide open (only to 4th gear) and pulled the plugs to see how it was running. Everything seemed alright except for the fact that i thougth it was running kinda hot. The plugs were both brownish black so I'm guessing the jetting is almost right. Here are pictures of the plugs. (sorry the quality isn't that good I couldn't get the camera to focus on them too good.) http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid1...39/f2a3ede1.jpg

Alright, sounds good. i'll go put the 280 mains and the 32.5 pilots in there and see where that puts me. As for the floats ii'll try that again and see if it helps. Thanks alot guys!

Alright, well heres the story. I just bought Bills pipes and I called them up and asked for jetting reccomendations. They said either 280 or 290 main and a 32.5 pilot. Now, when I went to get these jets from a shop they said for around here a main jet that big (280-290) is rediculously rich. So I figgured the guy at the shop would know a little more about what I needed because of the altitue and temperature and stuff like that. I ended up getting 240 mains and a stock 25 pilot. So thats where I sit now. I checked for leaks there arent any. So I tried running it with the choke on and it runs perfect. So, my question is since I have to use the choke how many sizes do you reccomend I jump up on the main jets? Should I put the 280 in there and the 32.5 pilot? I just want to get in the right ballpark. Ohh, and I didnt fix the fuel problem, Its probably just a float sticking, I'll get to that when I put the different jets in. Thanks guys!

I just re-jetted because I put pipes on my banshee and I finnaly got everything back together. I put new throttle cables on and everything. So today when I went to start it up for the first time it started but it seemed like the throttle was sticking a little bit. It would rev up like normal but it would take 3-4 seconds longer than usual to return to idle. So I shut it off because I figgured my cable was sticking and needed to be lubed up. Then I noticed all this gas pouring out of the overflow on my right carb. I figgured maybe the the floats were sticking and this is what was causing the first problem I descirbed. So, I just wanted to see what you guys think my problem is. I didnt want to tear the carbs apart if I didnt need to, so I thougth I'd ask here first. Thanks

thanks guys i hooked it all up, it worked great, thanks for the tips!
-
Alright, thanks alot, i'll give it a try. Ohh and by the way, they are the stock carbs. Thanks!

Hey, my throttle cable crapped out on me last week and i finnaly got around to going to pick a new one up. Can anyone help explain to me how to get the old one off and get the new one on? I have the carb tops off already and all, i just need some help getting the cables out. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Nevermind...I finnaly got ahold of Bill's and they reccomended 280-290 mains, 32.5 pilot and stock needle. Thanks anwyay guys....

Alright, well I appreciate the help from everyone but you guys told me 2 completley different setups. This is fine, I really do appreciate the help, but I just want to make sure that I get it right the first time. So out of the two what would be better.... This:

Alright, Thanks lot! I'll give thoes sizes a try. My pipes should be here by Friday, I'll let you know how it turns out.

Thanks dbkid13, i'll check out that site. As for my elevation im around 700ft above sea level and the avarage temps in the summer time are around mid 80's to mid 90's. I dont have my airbox lid off and the airbox doesnt have any holes drilled in it or anything...

Hey, I just bought a used set of Bills pipes and I was wondering if anyone could help me with my jetting. I dont have any motor mods besides a Proflow air filter, everything else (motor wise) is stock. So, could anyone help me re-jet correctly. I have never dealt with jetting, so as for jet sizes I have no clue what to use. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. Edit: I just found this on the Bills Pipes website: MAIN 300 PILOT 32.5 NEEDLE DYNO JET KIT WHITE BROS. PART# 19-4320 Does that sound right to anyone?
-
thanks guys, i ended up getting them out... it was alot harder than i expected. I just beat the crap out of them till one popped out. It took me a good hour but they finaly broke free.
-
Well, I dreaded the day that I had to change them but there is way too much slop in my carrier. I took it apart today and the bearings aren't chewed up badly but they are really ruff turning. So, I spent about an hour trying to tap the old bearings out, to no avail. The spacer/sleeve that goes in between the 2 bearings won't move around, so I can't really get a punch or anything on the actual bearing. What I was going to ask is if anyone else ran into this problem and how did they solve it. I'm pressed for time and a quick reply would be appreciated. Thanks

well if worst comes to worst i was going to but i thougth maybee someone knew... thanks anyway
