  1. ok, i go to a technical high school, and in order to graduate we need to do a project in our shop and write a paper on it. Im in welding shop, and ive built a custom round housing from a stocker w/ the housing from Alloy Specialties my sophomore year, and i figure its the best project i could think of to do now . Now what i need is as much info as all of you can throw at me. Pics would also be great too. Whats worked better, what hasnt. My 1st and only one i built is still working great on JKJK's shee. I really need to see what you guys have done for jigs, because my family has 4 banshees all togother, and they are all gonna get one probably in the future. How to's and pics basically! thanks
  2. ya thats what i thought it was, i have to do a compression test on it still.
  3. ya thats what i thought it was, i have to do a compression test on it still.
  4. my banshee runs alright but then when it starts to get hot it boils the antifreeze in the cylinders. i think its my head gasket because it is pressurizing the cooling systemand the cap on my overflow bottle blows off. any suggestions on what it might be? and i think my water impeller is good.
  5. im sellin a nice 01 on cape cod maybe i could meet you half way for $3500. has pc pipes, boyeson reeds, new top end, lots of powdercoating, new chain and sprockets, renthal bars, e brake block off, new chain sliders and rollers and much more!!. It is really fast for the money, but i need to pay for my new one i just picked up. pm m e if interested.
  6. ill trade a brand new $300 chrome lonestar stem w renthal $130 twinwalls for either ohlins or elka front shocks or a good rear.
  7. I need the phone number to alloy specialties for a round housing setup. I need to do a project for the welding shop im in at a tech school to graduate so i figure i should just build another swingarm. Anybody got any carriers for cheap that i could put in em?
  8. i just picked up a 2001 shee w/ Trex heads, 35mm carbs, ricky stator w. adjustable plate, dyna fs ign., and k+n clamp ons. Now i need to know if the plug the former owner was using (BR8ES), same as stock, is the correct plug to us. Also, when i got it, he had just put in the new stator due to a no spark prob. So i bought it with no spark, threw a coil in it, and it started right up. After about 2 hours of riding, the things left cyl. quit. I pulled the plugs, they were brown, and checked for spark, and it had none. So i switched plug wires, and the left cyl was still dead. When i got it home, i pulled everything off down to the reeds, which were fine. The just for shits and giggles i checked for spark, and they were both bright blue again. Do you think the dyna box is cookin' the stock coil? And what kinda clutch should i get for it that will hold up? it has a Magura hydraulic setup but with blown plates. And how much hp should my setup make? Thanks in advace for the help.
  9. Whenever I ride, my riding boots melt to my pipes. How do you get the melted plastic off? I know some people wirebrush it, but that ruins your finish on the pipes. PLEASE HELP!!
  10. what kind of riding do you do? I remember when my bike used to overheat it was because I didnt get the air goin through the radiator enough. You need to bring it down a straightaway ever once in a while to get the cool air through it. These bikes are 2 cyl with a not so big radiator, so they heat up fast. The heat on your legs is normal, especially with aftermarket pipes. Riding pants and boots make that problem a little better.
  11. thats a good point. JKJK, if your not interested in the complete bike, then ill make it stock probably and sell you the parts. Ill add up what all the stuff is worth and give it to you for a deal.
  12. thanks JKJK, i was thinking about doing exactly that. It seems that most people are afraid of banshees as it is, nevermind with all kinds of mods. I am definitely going to keep the swingarm to sell to you with the carrier. I might put stock pipes on and shit, but im not sure yet. But ya, if i make it stock then il definitely sell the parts to you . I just need to pay for my car. Hey, make me an offer on the whole bike JKJK, I would like to sell it to you because then I wouldnt have to see it go to hell.
  13. Ok, since nobody is interested yet, can anybody tell me if I am asking too high of a price, even if your not interested. Its hard to sell these bikes around me and Im not sure what would be a good price to ask. The bike is seriously like new.
  14. many extras include:::Pc pipes, renthal twinwall bars, lonestar steering stem, alba graphics, e brake b/o, moose lever, boyeson reeds, wiseco top end, shock covers, tm designworks chain slider and rear roller/guide, new sprockets and rk chain, a lot of powdercoating, k and n w/ pro flo, hinson clutch, ac bumper/grab bar, eyeball light covers, just went through the whole bike and replaced evry bearing and bushing, and all new brakes. Have a custom swingarm that is -2 w/ round carrier that I had pics of a while back on here, it also has a RAD carrier. I can put a stockk swingarm back on if you dont like -2 and are interested in the bike. I have holeshots that go with the stock swingarm, or maxxis sur traks that go with the -2. This bike ahs been very well maintained and runs and rides perfect. I need to pay for wheels and other things on my car. E mail me and ill send you pics at metyermatch@aol.com. I'm asking $5000 or best offer, and I am VERY NEGOTIABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Ok, thanks for the help. I thought that could be the problem.
  16. When I put brand new plugs in my banshee, and use them for a while, then take the wires off the top, the caps come off with the wires. Its like they're getting too hot and the threads basically melt and spread out the caps. Does anybody know what could be causing this. Its not even only on my banshee either, both my bros have the same problem. We all run B8ES plugs.
  17. Ya definitely put some high temp silicone on em. I used that on my pipes too and they havent leaked yet at all. Just clean the blackness out of where the pipe meets the flange,,and clean the flange, then just load up the flange and the pipe. You can also put it in your pipe clamps, especially if you have the "no leaks", because they definitely do leak as soon as the o rings wear out.
  18. Thanks everybody, but i ended up just stripping some tape off my wires and finding the key switches two wires. It works mint now.
  19. I just got a Tusk tether kill switch. I hooked the positive wire to the positive side of the coil, and put the ground to the frame. The problem is that it runs with the switch out and dies when I put it on. Its backwards. How do any of you hook one up. Like where do you ground it and where do you put the positive wire. I dont have enough wire from the key that used to be on it, so I'm trying to do it without the key wires. PLEASE HELP
  20. What size rear tires do you run? That would play a big part in gearing. I run a 14 40 gearing(rear 40 is just a blaster sprocket), with 22 inch holeshots. I dont like 22's , but they were free, but anyways. When you run taller tires, your bike will want to bog off the line if you dont rev it, so go to like a 13tooth front, or a 12. Stock gearing is 14/41. The new 450 is some good low end gearing with a 14/38 setup.
  21. Do you have good low end with 15 41 gearing? I dont think you would. You should try a 13 41 setup with 21 inch tires, its a mint setup. I run 14 40 with 22 inchers, but im going to get some 21s, and I ordered a 13 tooth front sprocket. A 40 tooth rear is just a Blaster sprocket, in case your gunna get one.
  22. My friend got a single carb kit for his banshee. Trinity sells the whole kit with gaskets, the 35mm carb, the 2 into 1 intake setup, a steel braided throttle cable, and a clamp on k+n filter w/ outerwear for $490. Its not bad for what it does for your banshee. If I had the money, I would get it definitely. It cleans the motor compartment up a lot, and gives you a lot more space for working on it. Its also easier to tune one carb instead of two. They put a jet in it for you for a banshee with pipes and the clamp on obviously. The bike has way more low end now. It started the second kick after putting it on . Its definitely a good part to get.
  23. I don't know much about all the new trucks, but I agree with BitchenBanshee about Dana 60's. They never fail. I have a 78 dodge with Dana 60's, and they are indestructible. Two of my dads cars have dana 60's in them too , and they can take a lot of power. One of the cars is a 68 Coronet with 750 hp (its a drag car), and the other is a 70 challenger r/t. They both have 440's, but the race car is stroked to a 496 with indy cylinder heads.
  24. Its easy to learn to wheelie on a four stroke instead of a banshee. I learned on blasters, warriors, 400exs and raptors. You come to almost a complete stop, sit on the back of the seat, and drop the clutch. When the front end comes up, youll feel it when it hits the balance point. When your just starting to do wheelies, your stomach will probably drop at the balance point. As soon as you hit it, just tap the brake for just a second to bring it a little down, then hit the gas to bring it back up. You try to keep it in the area of the balane point. When you do these slow wheelies, you don't get hurt if you hit the grab bar, just jump off the back and land on your feet. Its pretty easy when you get used to doing them.
  25. All the welds on the stock swingarm are mig welds. But if you want a really nice bead you could tig weld it. I just did the round carrier conversion and -2 my swingarm, and I just mig welded it because it is faster and easier. I had to do some tig in some spots though, and it wasn't that bad, but to do the whole thing with tig would take some time.
