  1. Your cable coupling tube built into the cable doesn't have enough travel for those carbs. You will have to replace the cable assembly with one designed for those carbs..Jim
  2. You will have a hard time gaining top-end power with that exhaust system. That system is designed for low-end power and works well for that, but it also puts on the brakes as far as top-end is concerned...Jim
  3. Your crankshaft should be inspected, trued and welded if you going after serious horsepower...usually runs around $50-$75 depending on the shop your using. Particular attention should be paid to side and radial clearances on the rods. A weak crank with even slightly loose rods will let loose once you've added the additional power. If its even a possibility, you should replace the crank with a new unit and weld it from the start unless its less than about 2 years old. Sounds like overkill, but you dont want to trash out your cylinders and port job and possibly cases with a weak crank....Jim
  4. Visible wear on both sides of the intake ports should be visible if the piston was rocking around. Sounds as if your dealer is trying to get away with no good....Jim
  5. I wouldn't waste future bore options boring to 66mm unless its needed to clean up your existing bore. Little to no advantage in doing so on the +4 stroker motor. The +4 motor ported to match is such a huge power increase, so the extra bore size would just be a waste of your cylinders...Jim
  6. There actually a ton of fun, if thats gay then hand me the lipstick, its like a real life video game. I have a entire fleet of those things from Gruman Bearcat warplanes to float planes, bi-planes, a Cap21 stunt plane, flying boats, and a 10 foot winspan Curtis Jenny among many others. Ive been flying for about 25 years and it has been quite rewarding...Jim
  7. Klotz, porting is a mod that is different than any other in the fact that it can be whatever you want it to be. From mild increases in power to all out rip your arms off acceleration,top-end, whatever, its all there for the asking. Porting along with a set of decent pipes will provide more power than all other mods combined...Jim
  8. Back in biz...thanks Lee!....Merry Christmas everyone....Jim
  9. Duece, dont let me talk you out of a set of CPI's with my comments, trust me they haul on your engine. Proquad101 runs them on his TT/Short track motor I built and nothing can out power him on the 1/2 mile short track. Also he moves around nicely on TT tracks I think you'll find them comfortable. And your right, Im not dealing with your oil seperation situation with 927. Run what you feel comfortable with and have experience with. I just personally get attached to these builds and find great comfort in knowing you and others are running the 927...it just helps me sleep a little better. Its a great delima as a builder when I build super fast motors and my customers expect them to stay together, the 927 will provide that but if you have equal substitutes, by all means go for it...Jim
  10. Banshee370, its not really a issue of not spooling over 10K as much as it is that it just pulls your arms off up till the second it drops off leaving you with the impression that you know this thing can do more...is that an accurate description Duece? Ironically I have found that FMF Fatty's rev out longer on these +4's with just slightly less bottom end. I feel certain that this engine has enough umph to spare down low that the right pipe combo would produce 12k and still have more than excellent bottom end...what do you think Duece?....Jim
  11. Oh its definately the pipe without a doubt. Lean jet sizing doesn't help either. All pipes quit pulling, usually long before peak rpm is reached. These +4 motors just dont peter out before that point. To me it indicates potential horsepower not even tapped into. Ive been looking for a pipe that wont fall off until around 12K or so but havn't found it yet. As for cost, who knows, I havn't even ck'd into it yet. Possibly Scherer of Factory pipe could do it. Its not going to happen in somebody's garage on the weekends though thats for sure. The beauty of it all would be a grunt monster that hits 12K...what a superb outcome...Jim
  12. Duece, my +4 long rods tend to pull like crazy right up to the split second they fall off the pipe. The CPI'S will do the same, just a little further up on the rpm scale. Your probably turning more rpm than you think seeing that engine will hit 10K effortlessy and instantly. Although that engine isn't your everyday hopped up Banshee motor, most pipes that are available are designed for such a everyday engine .If I had the funds, I would have a pipe designed specifically for that engine...maybe in time.. Oh, and Merry Christmas to you as well!...Jim
  13. Just thought of something else.....most guys dont have the pleasure of hopping on the shee in the garage and blitzing down the driveway and hitting the trails within seconds. They have to trailer the bike hit the road and this tends to stir up the fuel nicely before they even try to start it. Your a lucky guy Duece...but you knew that!...Jim
  14. Duece, next time turn off the gas and let it run out of gas in the carbs when your done for the day. When you return shake the bike a little and your ready to go. May be a hassle, but I assure you your crank and bore thank you evertime that 927 runs through its veins. This is not your everyday Banshee motor and it cant be treated like one either...Jim
  15. Back your pilots down to #50's, set air mixtures at 2.5 turns, sync idles and then cables, re-adjust your air mixtures to highest idle after a complete warm up(hot) and then richen up air mixtures until 50 rpm is lost from highest idle. Then, readjust idle speed and repeat process again. Extended idleing will foul plugs, 40-1 should be ok...Jim
  16. Duece, you should have requested the wheelie package...I guess you want your money back..right?...Jim
  17. Yes, you can match the case to the cylinders with the plate as well..JIm
  18. Oilsmoke, the plates I run are either .063" or .080" thick. Subtract around .020" for the thickness of a normal base gasket and it puts the total raising of the jugs around .060" or so. Check and see if you have that much clearance to spare. Remember, no other base gaskets are used other than the plate itself..Jim
  19. +4 long rod stroker ported to match with 34 Keihins and pipes Huge bang for your buck. More power than most people even want...Jim
  20. Blue Duece, look up Jade Racing...they have a RD400 running 9.5 in the 1/4 at 138mph!
  21. Actually Duece I just did the math and a Bone stock Shee WILL do 120 mph with stock gearing and tires..thats the good news. The bad news is that you will have to drop it from 4000 feet out of an airplane to do it...Jim
  22. Merry Christmas Jinx, and Ho Ho Hold on to those grips real tight!...ck the grip glue just to make sure..Jim
  23. Jinx, no need for the apologies...really. Things didn't come together as fast as I wanted and needed for matter, in order to fulfill my original promises. I depend on alot of people to make these builds come together and some go better than others. Also, I really appreciate the warm welcome here on HQ, it means alot to me personally. Business is just great and I appreciate the fact that you guys have many choices in builders and choose my services. You can rest assure that I do everything in my power to provide quality products and reasonable turn around times on these builds...thanks so much... Jim Smart
  24. That's fine David. Jack just lives around the corner. I can tune his bike from the comfort of my living room just by opening the window and talking on the phone...Jim
  25. Justin, what your looking for is a stroker..LOL.. But hey, if you decide to upgrade to a stroker let me know and if we can come up with some stock jugs maybe trade out or something?...Im flexible... Keeping that killer top-end on a 350 and having good grunt is a hard task. If your into the hills alot, keep the carbs at 30 or under. Rememeber, your bike pulls like crazy with the stock carbs and even a set of 28's will increase your top-end. Dont slap a set of 33's or 35's on there and expect to get any more low-end, it wont happen. At best the 33's will accelerate faster and have more top-end, but off the bottom down low, you wont be pleased...Jim
