  1. I was wondering if of you guys have ordered from Quicksand Motorsports lately? Reaon I ask is because I ordered a set of A-arms April 5th and Gary or whoever the guy was said it would only be about 2 weeks since I wanted them bare metal and no plating or coating. Well, its been almost a month now. I've called, but nothing but an answering machine. So I was wondering if you guys have had any trouble getting your parts from him. I know he billed my credit card the day I ordered them, because I got my CC statement in the other day. JD
  2. Since you just purchased it, I would to a compression test on the cylinders so you know where your at. You never know about buying a used Banshee with a so called "new top end".
  3. For "piece of mind" on your motor staying together, I would have the crank welded and trued while your at it if you haven't done it already.
  4. Well, it won't take but 20 minutes to pull the pipes off. I would pull the pipes off and take it to a welder that can tig weld and have it tigged up. It doesn't sound serious to me though. Justin
  5. I just pulled the cage, the reeds aren't broken, but the top reeds are closed shut and the bottom ones are open about 1/16". Does that mean anything? Also the only thing that could have been changed is the slide adjustment on top of the carb where you can screw it in and out to adjust the amount of opening that the slide has at idle. Pulled the plug and it was coated in raw gas and the reeds were too if that means anything. I am a decent mechanic, but don't know how to adjust the carb or can't tell what signs to look for for any problems. HELP!! Note: the floats work perfect as do the throttle cable.
  6. I don't know who else to ask. I need help. My buddy and I put together his Trinity motor w/ fresh topend, ported jug, headwork, 44mm carb, race pipe, etc... It ran fine for the first 10 hours of riding, but the slide spring was to stiff and we shortened it it relieve some spring pressure. Well, since I put it back together, it has been flooding bad. Info: 540 jet 400' elevation 50-70* weather temp Need to know: How much gap should the slide be open? What should the air/fuel screw backed off at? Man, I would greatly appreciate any help. I know this is not a Quadzilla, but I don't have anyone to ride with if that Zilla isn't running. Justin
  7. Me and a couple of buddies went this past Saturday and it was a blast. It was my first time out there. It is not really anything special, but there is a lot of sand and you will need some paddles. I will definetely be back there soon, especially since it is only a hour and a half there. I learned a lot more about my Banshee this weekend. I always wondered why anyone would spend all there money on extended A-arms, shocks, etc.....I know why now. Heck I am wanting to save up now for those mods. Justin
  8. I was wondering. There are a few places along the river to ride. There is one on Hwy. 70 North of Paris and also Hwy. 37 between Clarksville, TX and Idabel, OK. A few buddies and I will be on the one off of Hwy. 37 this Saturday if anyone is near. Later, Justin
  9. Hey thanks for the tip mrmatt. Justin
  10. Cool, cool, will get a hold of you when I make my mind up on everything I am going to do. This has just been a thought I had. In my mind, it looks like this will look really good. Something else I was going to do is maybe get blue handlebar grips, a blue anodized Noss Head and Blue netted nerf bars. Since the only thing that will be black is the front cut fenders, nose, radiator cover, and tank cover, the seat cover will mostly be black to sort of even out all the blue I will have. Justin P.S. I wonder if this is going to look good on the Silver frame?
  11. Well, I have a Black/White/Silver Shee (Black front fenders & tank, White rear plastic, Silver radiator cover, and Black/Silver seat cover) I want to do something different since I see so many of those same color scheme bikes around. Was wondering if you guys had any Black/Blue Shees. I want to replace my rear White plastic with Blue and replace the Silver radiator cover with Black. The redo the seat cover in something different (don't know exactly what yet) and shave the front fenders. Also get Blue shock covers, Blue outerwears (for a clamp-on kit when I get it), and blue chain rollers & sliders. Any of you have something similar to this? Thanks, Justin
  12. Thanks for the advice guys. Justin
  13. I was wondering what mods can you do til you need bigger carbs? I like to do several things at once and didn't know if I would need bigger carbs. Here are the mods I was thinking about: .020 overbore w/ Vito's Superstock pistons Milled head .030 (of course weld & true the crank) advance timing +4* K&N clamp-on filters V Force reed cages & reeds already have Pro Circuit pipes I will soon be doing the bikes first rebuild and was thinking about these mods. Let me know if I will need bigger carbs or can bore the stockers and if I need bigger carbs, what would be the carb to get? Thanks, Justin
  14. yeah, I don't know what jets are in it now. I believe my altitude is 400' above sea level. I appreciate the info. P.S. If I buy a K&N jet kit, what size mains and pilots do I get in the kit?
  15. Just picked up an clean '02 last night. It already has a set of Pro Circiuts on it. Still has the dang ol stock air box & filter. Going to get rid of it and get a pair of "clamp on" K&N's. What size mains and pilots do I need to get for it? The previous owner has been running 16:1 premix. I am going to at least 32:1, but maybe 40:1. Thanks for any help, Justin
  16. I went and looked at the Shee for sale yesterday. It is an '02 and is very clean. It has Pro Circuit pipes and has been jetted. That is all the mods except shock covers. It had oil coming out of the head pipe. I ask what ratio he mixed with and he said 4 gallons of gas to 1 quart of oil. What is that, like 16:1!!!! Way to much. The plugs were oily, but not as bad as you would think with 16:1. Also checked the compression after I rode it....118psi. on left side and 116psi. on right side. I don't no the elevation, but I am thinking under 1,000 ft for sure. I think I may go ahead and buy it, he said he would take $4,000 for it and besides the mixing problem, it is a VERY CLEAN bike. Also has 22x11/8 Skat Trak 8 paddle tires on Alum. wheels, helmet, and jersey to go with it. I don't care for the hard hit of the PC's, but I can always sell them and get some other pipes. Watcha think???
  17. I am trying to put together a list of things to do to a Banshee when you first buy one. Hopefully I will get a like new 2 year old bike here shortly and I saw some things that needed to be done. Let me know what you think and add in whatever you feel needs to be done. A must with a new Shee for preventative maintenence: 1.Remove T.O.R.S. 2.Replace the stock air filter setup & jet 3.Get a Clymer manual 4.Drill and tap greese zerk in rear carrier 5.Get better chain rollers & guides 6.Shock covers 7. 8. 9. Shee's First performance mods (cost effective) 1.Pipes 2.Jet kit 3.Replace the stock air filter setup (Same as #2 above) 4.Mill head 5.Advance timing 6.Gear change w/ sprockets 7.Modify or change reed cage 8.Get better water pump impeller 9. 10. Shee's First handling mods 1.Better tires 2.Extended A-arms 3.Lengthen or shorten swingarm (depending on riding style) 4.Dual or Triple Rate shocks 5.Aftermarket rear axle 6.Aftermarket carrier bearing 7.Nerf bars 8. 9. More Adavance Performance mods after first mods 1.True & weld stock Crank (or go with a stroker crank) 2.Port Jugs (depending on riding style) 3.Aftermarket Pistons 4.Aftermarket clutch 5.Bigger carbs 6.Aftermarket head w/ domes 7. 8. 9. Let me know if I miss anything. Justin
  18. I just borrowed one from a buddy of mine. That will save me for now. What size hole is those things? 5/8"??? I got a 5/8" adapter and a 13/16" I believe. Justin
  19. I am going to look at an '02 this weekend and the guy didn't seem to know the important things to do for the Banshee for preventative maintenence. It is a 2 owner bike and he says it might have 80-100 hours on it. So I need to compression check the cylinders before I buy it. Can anyone help me determine which guage and fitting I need? Something that I can pick up at the parts store relatively cheap. Thanks for any help, Justin
  20. EDIT: Nevermind....got your P.M. Thanks, Justin
  21. E-mail me at [email protected] with your phone # and location. I want to look at it. I am interested. Justin
  22. Where are you located? What color is it? Justin
  23. Very True. I made hold on and try to get it running at first. My buddy that is selling his Banshee said the top end is good, but needs some cleaning and such since it has been setting up for a while. I guess I need to set back and do some more researching on this site and see if my first instincts are right or if some other combo will better suite me. Thanks
  24. I was just wondering. I am currently dealing with an old buddy on his '97 shee that has been setting up in the back of his shop for over 3 years now. All I know he has done to the quad is he fixed the air box, tapped the rear axle carrier and installed a grease zerk, has LRD adjustable pipes, and rejetted. If I get my hands on the shee, I am not going to take a chance, just go ahead and tear it all down and start from scratch. Was wanting some advice on getting some major reliable hp. My best friend has a '87 Quadzilla and we just installed his new motor that was built by Trinity, and has a Stave IV head, major port, 44mm carb, pipe/silencer etc., etc. and Trinity told him it is putting out at least 90hp and no more then 100hp on pump gas. This thing will dislocate your shoulders if you don't watch it. Well, that Zilla is already pretty light and he only weighs 165lbs. compare to the 215lbs. I weigh. I think it is going to be impossible to beat him. I was just wanting something easy to tune, reliable, lots of low and midrange power. Here is what I was thinking: +4mm crank Wiseco 795's Port? what kind of port? Head? Maybe a Nosshead Trinity CV 2-to-1 carb 35mm+? Like the fact of 1 carb to jet, less weight, cleaner DMC 916's (love the looks) adjustable stator +4* Beefier clutch Hinson? Barnett? reeds & ported cages gearing? I have a budget of about $2,500. I should get a few bucks selling the LRD's that are already on so that helps some. Oh, I will be riding lots and lots of back roads and trails. Will also go to the dunes about 3-4 times a year. And what should I expect out of this type of set-up. Will it be alright when I go play in the sand any? I wish I would have never gotten rid of my '01 Shee. Had to at the time though. Thanks for any help and wish me luck on getting the '97. Justin
  25. Where are you located? What color is the Shee?
