  1. FIXED!! - It was a blown Reed - blew clear though on the left side. Thanks for all the help!!!
  2. Throttle cable is fine - no kinks not pulling out anywhere - all the adjustments are correct and the slide bottoms out for sure. I really think the key is the fact that it doesn't go through the roof until I pull the choke. With the choke off it just spits and sputters and takes off but doesn't stay at high rev and just acts real erratic. This is killing me here.
  3. Oh and by the way - Brand Spanking New Spark Plugs - keep in mind single Keihin Carb set up
  4. THIS REALLY SUCKS!!! OK here is what I have done - installed a new NONE PLASTIC idle screw and adjusted it properly, fired it up and same thing - first nothing then I pull the choke and WHAM it hits the roof. I pull off the filter and check out the slide action and it is for sure hitting bottom, so I take the slide apart and find the clip on the lowest setting - so I raise it one, put it back together and same thing - revs crazy on choke. Next I turn the idle screw in enough to make sure it raises the slide and fire it without the choke it Idles high but doesn't get to crazy - so I bip it and it hesitates and then takes off for a second then comes back down to high idle, I turn the idle screw out and drop the idle and it slows down but its rough and when I bip it shee hesitates and takes off again - comes back down and idles rough - I pull the choke and WHAM it goes off. After playing around for about 15 minutes I noticed that the left side is dead flat COLD - not even firing. I don't know why I do this to myself - you have to be into S&M to own one of these things - AND I HAVE HAD 4. I felt like pounding the screwdriver into my eye. In my last post I mentioned interest in selling it - disregard that I wouldn't wish this pain on my worst enemy. PLEASE ....For The Love Of God And Country....... Help.
  5. The idle screw is still there in fact when I was adjusting - it turned really hard and the fact that the head is plastic didn't help - I was thinking about pulling it out all together and wrapping some teflon around it to see if that might make a difference - if there is air getting in and around it - the teflon should make difference right? I will also check the slide although I can hear it pull up then come back down and hit bottom - I also checked the action with the slide out of the carb. We'll see - I am thinking in some way it has to be the idle screw because it is the only thing I adjusted before it went off like a crack addict. Thanks for the help guys, I'll let you know what happens. If anybody is interested I bought this 96 to sell (I have a 90 that I am keeping) here are the mods: Fresh top end with Wiseco's, FMF Fatty's, Stage IV 2 - 1 with Keihin PWK Carb, Works front suspension (not gas) Race Tech Heart Transplant Rear Shock, Amp link chain tensioner, Brand new Henson Clutch.
  6. reas - now that you mentioned it - I did try to adjust the idle on the carb just before it went haywire - the idle screw is funky - plastic head that was probably stripped the first time anybody tried to turn it - it is also spring loaded - I first turned it into to lift the slide slightly because the idle was real low and thats when I went for my ride and wham thats when it started - so I kept adjusting it out to drop the slide and couldn't get it right. Again it is a funky idle adjustment and I could certainly see how some air could get by it - I'm guessing maybe I should pull it out and re-seat it. What do you guys think. Again the carb is a keihin pwk - have any of you guys messed with them? Thanks
  7. This slide can't go in backwards - only one way
  8. cable is seated - for sure, it's like the carb isn't responding to the slide at all - you have to keep bipping it real fast just to keep it going then it revs up by itself and cuts out - until I pull the choke then it gets stupid, revving through the roof
  9. After searching many posts it seems that the solution to the problem I'm having is in the Bermuda Triangle. I just bought a 1996 Shee with some nice mods and it ran perfect at the sellers house (wouldn't ya know) I get it home and I am running it around my homemade track and it starts revving to the MOON - i pull the kill switch and roll it back. The setup is 2 into 1 Trinity stage IV with Keihn PKW (spelling is probably wrong) Carb (single carb). Well I check the throttle cable and it isn't kinked. The slide goes up and down like it should and you can here it bottom out (work perfect) - I pulled the carb apart and went through it and it is all clean, put it back together and now it seems to just act crazy - revving up then cutting out and revving back up and cutting out - until I pull the choke then it just screams. My spark plugs were fouled so I thought maybe it's that simple - NOPE new plugs- same thing. No airleaks checked for that, tors removed, parking brake gone. Help, Help, Help Thanks!!!
  10. Thanks for the help guys but I fixed it myself..................I SOLD IT - runs great now - no worries. However I did buy another one (idiot) and now I have new problems which I'll post in another thread - thanks. Thanks again
  11. I will check the silencers, When the choke is pulled out it fades like it should (boggs down). I use Klotz @ 32:1 - exhaust smoke is a tiny bit heavy, does not rev up at idle like there is an air leak. The reason I am at 80 over: when I bought this shee (for practically nothing because of problems) the guy before me had a dealership rebuild his quad and the mechanic did not seat the wrist pin "C" clip and it popped out and tore up the right side. I had to go 80 over to get the jug clean and also had the case split to make sure there was no metal remaining in the motor. Filter setup is stock. If it is the flywheel side crank seal - how hard is it to install, I've never been in the case - I had a shop split it the first time. Thanks alot for the help.
  12. I started a thread a couple of months back on my 01 Banshee running extremely flat - Since that time I have tried everything suggested except a leak down test. I am still having the same problem, here goes: 2001 Banshee bored 80 over - brand new wiseco pro lites, everything else stock - brand new rebuild and it runs like S@$T - No Power band whatsoever - it'll jump a little in 1st gear but after that it's as flat as a pancake - nowhere near what it should be. Here is what I have done: Tors sytem is completely removed and everything related has been disconnected, parking brake gone and disconnected, tube is in place between the carbs, slides are in the correct carbs, Reeds are perfect, I get 120psi a side at 650 ft above sea level, spark is good and I have tried 8 new sets of plugs while I tried to dial this b@#$tch in. The only thing I haven't done (and this maybe it) is re-jet it for the new bore size - has stock jets and stock clip settings (I actually tried going up one clip to lean it out, but no change). Jet size recommendations would be appreciated (not my specialty) The carbs are clean I have been through them with a microscope. Well, thats the best I can do to describe my problem - your help is always appreciated. Thanks <bangheadreallyreallyreallyhard>
  13. Choke tube is in place checked - re-checked. The carbs I pulled off a running banshee so i know for fact that they're clean and that they are getting plenty of fuel. The thing that has me baffled is that I replaced the coil with a 100% for sure working one from my other shee and still same problem. So - carbs are working properly for sure - coil is working properly for sure - plugs are good - could I have wired something wrong to cause the good spark right and weak spark left or is it a matter of spark or no spark concerning the wiring. Confused
  14. Yeh I checked - used several plugs to make sure - still no fire -
  15. I have 1990 Banshee that I purchased as "needs work". Having owned a few of these guys - I figured - compression, spark, fuel, air and go - NOPE!!! Not on this one. I had to re-connect all the wiring and when I finished it would only fire on the right side - the left side was dead cold and not firing at all - Checked spark and it was fair but might have been a little weak - so I switched out the coil from my other banshee to see if that might be it - nope still would only fire on the right - so i switched the cable - still no fire. Checked the carbs - in fact I switched those out too just to make sure and checked the reeds - still no fire. Took the filter out and sprayed fuel directly into the cold side while the right side was running and still no fire. Which lends me to believe it is a weak spark issue - but wouldn't I have got a good spark from switching the cable? BTW - Spark plugs are new - first thing I did and TORS is removed - no parking brake assembly. I am baffled by this one - I am getting ready to light one great big fire under the left side of this B@#CH - FRUSTRATED
  16. Blue Velvet is different - but Cracker doing the chicken in the shed while his fat cousin sits in playpen in a trashy trailor screaming for the egg man is way out there!! You gotta agree Pink Flamingos is way high up on the carni scale
  17. CHINGGGG - your good and BTW the quote from caddyshack rules all movie quotes.
  18. Pink Flamingos Cabin Boy - You really rule - here's another - if you have seen Pink Flamingos then I am sure you can quote this next one: "HEINEKEN SUCKS.....PABST BLUE RIBBON" Same movie "Wanna go for a ride nieghbor? / UH... No / No What? / No I don't want to go for a ride / A Ride what a great idea." Can't leave this one out...same movie: "Is that your mom naked on the front lawn?" The Stoned Age? No - Sicker than that - Cult flick - that was more popular than Pink Flamingos Clue: She wore (movie name goes here) - song
  19. Nater, Stick strongly to the fact that you were following traffic - YOU DID NOT SEE ANY SIGN CONCERNING THE ROAD BEING CLOSED!!!!!!!!!! If you bring up the fact that it would have been dangerous to do anything else (like bang a U) your admitting that you knew the road was closed and as a result was considering different action. If you admit to seeing the sign - Your Dead in The Water! Now, not knowing the exact layout of everything - if you can claim that the line of cars you were following blocked your ability to view the road closed sign and you were simply following the flow of traffic thats it. What Sign??????????? It is hard to provide advise without being able to see the scene - so thats my take - good luck. BTW - An attorney would guarantee you a victory and no points - weigh the price of your insurance going up and having to pay that over X periods of months. Attorney might be cheap. The reason I say that is 10 years ago I had a bike like yours and quickly added 14 points to my record - and was supposed to loose my license - got an attorney for $350 and walked into court with 14 points, walked out with 0 points - your case would be a lot cheaper. Good Luck
  20. 21. Sorry I haven't got back sooner, but I keep my toys in a warehouse and have been to busy to get over there this week, I'm going over this weekend - plugs looked ok didn't seem too rich or lean according to their color. I am going to check the slides even though I have them marked - I really hope it is something as simple as that - It drives me crazy not to be able to nail this thing down. It is awesome to be able to access a community of like minded nuts to get the help you need - Thanks Again
  22. Nice!! Cabin Boy Now you will have to have a real sick library to know this one: "Babs where's the egg man, I just love eggs"
  23. JumpMan - How about some SYMC stock advise or my Banshee for 100 shares - your companies stock seems to be a day traders dream - big swings everyday.
  24. Inventor Some of the things I have invented: * The Paper Clip * White writing paper (used to be brown until I introduced bleach to the process) * The Internet your using - Al Gore wrote the code and I designed the infrastructure - actually a relatively short project (about 3 weeks start to finish) * The pocket fisherman (sold it to Ron Popeil) * Invented the phrase "It's not you...It's me" * Invented the method of self repairing Banshees through the extraction of cord blood from younger banshees and injecting the broken banshee with the stem cells (once repaired the banshee repairs itself as it is breaking). Available soon!! I'll keep HQ posted with future projects.
