  1. BenBB - I am pretty sure it is earlier than short circuit. Clue: True story that took place in Turkey (Awesome Movie) China Syndrome? It was the only 70's movie about factories I could think of Another clue - the main character was Billy Hayes Another Quote "everybody runs around here stabbing each other in the ass"

  3. This could be tough - Late 70's: "The machines don't know their bad machines, the factory knows their bad machines but the machines don't know their bad machines"
  4. Whats the cost after the 10%?
  5. Slides are in the right carb - in fact one of the firsts things I do when I get a banshee is mark the tops and the spark plug wires left and right - I have mixed them up before - I will however yank the filter and see what happens - I'd be happy with a dog that ran like it had a mild burn . I really appreciate all the help - these things can be frustrating, but to be honest the learning process is half the fun. Astatic: Moving at a high rate in no particular direction
  6. Jet sizes are stock, clip position is 3rd groove (stock), timing hasn't been touched.
  7. Choke Tube checks out - slides are good - now I am not going to profess that I am an expert adjusting my carbs - I have tried adjusting my air - fuel mix by starting at the factory setting (2 turns out) and working in - I did notice some improvement at 1-1/2 turns out. I just have a gut feeling that it's carb related but I have been through both of them several different times. STUMPED. 40' Lobster boat WOW thats a big ass boat. When I was 15, dumb and crazy (good combination) My friend and I took a wooden row boat with a 10 horse motor and went out to the Isles of Shoals only to be escorted back by the coast guard out of Newcastle - Thank God for perfect weather or we would have been swimming with the blues (September). I really miss the Seacoast. Only one memory from Saco - I hopped the BM train out of Dover thinking I could get off a mile up the tracks at a friends house - nope...... train was going 30mph had to stay on till it slowed down enough in Saco where I jumped off and hitch hiked back. I am now 39 and own 2 Banshees - my friends with their 4x4 - four bangahs think I'm nuts but I don't mind when we go riding they spend the day eating dirt sandwhiches served up by my shee (the good running one). Thanks again for the help guys.
  8. DOH - just dawned on me - exhaust not silencer - I was unplugging the CDI - LOL what an idiot - the box your referring to has been unplugged I pulled it when I replaced the TORS. Wish that wasn't the case but it is. Sorry - The doctors tell me I'm only slightly retarded, sometimes I think there just being nice.
  9. Guys - I checked out the "brain module" in the back just above the left silencer (black box) but there are a lot more wires than the three mentioned. There are 2 connectors each with definately more than three wires. I tried every combination you can - both unplugged - one unplugged etc. and everytime got no spark - hook them back up and spark. The parking brake assembly has been missing since I have owned it so I don't think thats a factor. As you can probably tell when it comes to electrical my IQ is about 10. Why do I do this ----> <----- Cause it feels so good when i stop. Thnaks
  10. Banchetta - just noticed your info - should have looked before I asked - Saco huh? Ayuh betcha got one wicked banshee bub. I miss the Lobster - buck a pound off the boat - used to eat it till I got sick from the butter - wicked pissah!! Can still taste the fried clams from the clam shack - out here clams don't have bellies - just necks - like chewing rubbah bands.
  11. Wow - thanks for the fast response!!! Elevation is 450 I think - Columbus, OH - jetting is bone stock and as clean as a whistle - played with the clip setting but didn't make any difference so i set it back to factory. Banchetta I'll check the rear but I think I have it all disconnected including the parking break (I hope I am wrong). I grew up in Portsmouth, NH and if I still lived there I'd bring it to you. Thanks again - just out of curiosity where in Maine?
  12. Sorry for the lengthy post but I want to explain everything: I bought a 99 shee for next to nothing because a friend of mine got extremely frustrated with it - he had it rebuilt and it was still running like crap. I took it and tore it down and discovered that the c-clip was missing from the wrist pin - it had popped out and tore the right side up - piston and cylinder wall was pretty bad. I sent the cylinders out and had them bored 80 over to get the gouge out and boutght new wiseco's. I split the case and went through everything to make sure all the metal was out of it. I put it back together and did a compression test and got 120 per side (really should be more shouldn't it?) anyway I completely went through the carbs making sure everything was clean and I replaced the tors with new carb tops - drilled and tapped for the idle screws. As of right now it runs like CRAP - starts fine and idles ok but is extremely flat from mid too top - seems like there is no powerband whatsoever - just winds up like a four stroke and stays flat and slow - completely missing any punch. The carbs are in sync I have checked and re-checked three different times. As far as an air leak goes - I do not have the means (tools) to pull a vacuume on it and do a leak down test and I hate to get bent over by the shop. This is my 3rd shee and it is definately not a charm. By the way all stock accept for the tors removal and the bore. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated - next step is nailing a board on top of it and using it as a coffee table!!! Thanks.
  13. For the record - I wasn't trying to offend anyone - but 4,000 seems high - I apologize if my post seemed offensive
  14. Hug a tree? Junky bike? Ouch - Sold yours for 4,000 yet?
  15. I am amazed at the prices some people are trying to get out of their Shees so I thought I would post something that will probably go a little more reasonable. I have a 2001 Banshee that is stock except for custom paint, a Radiator Shroud that I have overlayed with Carbon Fiber that looks pretty hot, Razors and I have removed the TORS and added the idle screws. Oh, and it also has a fresh rebuild with Wiseco's. You can find pics of this quad on ebay as it is listed right now. My user name is Wombley - just do a search for items I'm selling or search by location for banshees - my location is Columbus, OH. I have checked out some of the Banshees in this forum and the asking prices are crazy - a 1998 for 4,000!!!! I am hoping to get 3,000 out of my 2001. Well, check it out if your interested the auction ends Sunday night - if the offer is right I will end early - Cash in hand by Saturday. You can email me at redsox9@earthlink.net. If your in the Columbus, OH area and want to hook up - I have another Banshee, a 1990 thats about 95% finished - don't have pictures yet but it has been rebuilt from the frame up - Powder coated black frame, FMF fatty's, works gas shocks on the front, Nolleen racing rear shock killer rims, every bearing and bushing has been replaced - renthal bar - needs front brake pistons (has the caliper and rotor), needs a clutch cable and the electrical has just been run new but needs the key ignition (if you want that, or just wire around it) I just haven't had time to finish it - I'm about half interested in selling the 1990 I might just keep it for personal injuries oops I mean personal riding - but if your local and want to check it out and the offer is right I just might sell it.
  16. I actually only need the right jug but unless I get lucky I am probably going to have to buy both. Pistons would be nice as well. I am not interested in anything over .60. I have a left that is .20 over which unless I find a single right will be for sale. Thanks
