  1. cams hi compression piston headwork slightly bigger fcr carb 450 bore kit add that and you have a fast ass yfz that a lot of banshees can't touch....
  2. Guess I'll add my 2 cents also. The fatties do NOT have a bad top end, they actually rev up pretty good. While they're not CPIs or Rockets in the top end, they have a great low to mid pull and have plenty of top to get the job done. Rockets are not something you'd want if your running trees or mx, and I'd personally advise against the Toomey series either for woods or mx. Get yourself a set of Fatties and be done with it, you have no idea how good it'll feel to rip the throttle open on that bad boy with a set of Fatties. The Fatties only get better with portwork. As you break into the motor, they'll handle the extra power with grace. If I can stick my neck out a little further and say, don't buy one of the package deals until after you compare the items and prices on everything including buying them seperately. You don't need a boost bottle, they're a waste of money. What you want is: FMF Fatty Pipes VForce Reeds Pro Design ProFlow kit w/ your choice of filter. That's what you want. If the package kit has that at a good price get it, if not, buy those items seperately, even if you have to wait on the reeds until a little later. If you settle for something instead of buying what you should've to begin with, you'll always end up getting it sooner or later anyways, so save yourself from buying stuff twice and get what I mentioned above. We've all done it, I promise you. Scott
  3. Your machine's not ported right? Like I said before, I'm running a 15/38 (equiv. to 16/41) and it's awesome right there. Now that you've ran your 15/41, maybe try a tad taller still and see where your machine likes it best. Maybe a 15/40, that seems to be a really good setup on some machines. Gearing is definitely trial and error, and you've tried. That's kick ass!! Amazing how much low torque the banshee has and how smooth the powerband is with the PT Mids.
  4. Great to hear man. Hope it continues to get better for ya.
  5. The aftermarket tanks eliminate the need for tank plastic.
  6. If you don't have overheating problems at standard timing, you won't at +4 or +7 either.
  7. Or call Trinity and order a Terrycable from them.
  8. Try a 180 main jet, 48 pilot and needle in the 4th clip.
  9. What kind of "parts"? I'm not sure I want to part, but I have a set and in the next week or so, I might consider parting, we'll see. Depends on what I get in return.
  10. Since Monday I've completed the following to get the machine ready (some things were incompleted items from the rebuild): reinstalled steering stabilizer repaired pinhole leak in exhaust header polished stator cover cleaned and polished both pipes replaced crankcase oil drained and cleaned fuel tank replaced fuel filter soaked and cleaned chain lubed cables reinstalled nerf bars swapped front main springs out for softer ones rechecked alignment polished shift lever (just cause it was there) Things left to do before Sunday: install and set chain tweak the jetting (gonna pull airbox lid, it is cut tho) check/adjust ride height lube zerk fittings check coolant put on new preprinted number plates (changed numbers this season) quit buffing shi eat my wheaties oh.. and "get some" Things to do after this Sunday: install quick-change clutch cover install new lower rad hose install new fenders and tank install shortened swingarm install dyna ignition Hell, that's all I can think of for now, but I'm sure there's more. You wanted a list and there it is. I'll be doing plenty of looking over Saturday and again Sunday morning. I just don't feel prepared this week.
  11. That ain't no shit there...
  12. and take a shit before you get on.... that'll help.
  13. I'm totally not trying to argue with you, but I read an article identical, but they said that Engine Ice was the better one. Watter Wetter claims 15 degrees and Ice claims 50 degrees. I've personally seen Ice drop temps by 35 to 40, so there's my say on that. No experience with WW. Just my input here.
  14. I've been running 927 for awhile. I think it likes to seprate a little too much. Seems that if I let it sit for a week or so, or less in the winter, it really is fat and smoky when I start it up. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it shouldn't, it's a 2 stroke, but I think it's excessive. Also, when I did my rebuild, the pistons were really carboned. Maybe my jetting is too rich, dunno if that'd affect the carbon buildup. I just bought some Silkolene SX, I think it is. I like other Silkolene products, and my dealer goes through a lot, so I'm gonna try it and see if I like it any better. I used to run MC-1 and liked it, so maybe Bel Ray is where I need to be. Who knows, but I'm done with 927.
  15. I know, I have it for my..... {cough} tractors and equipment.
  16. I still don't have a lot of seat time on it with the new setup, so I'm still learning myself. But handlebar time, handlebar time I keep telling myself.... Hope it works out.
  17. I don't know where your riding with em, but I'll say this: I wasn't too sold on em when I first started riding them. I felt the same as you did, the low mid is great but where's the top, any top. The way I see it, these pipes are great but you just can't expect the top you have with fatties, or T5's or anything like that. You almost have to ride a lilttle differently to make them work for you. My first practice session at a xc course went like this. First lap, I was flying into corners reved up decent and I'd hit it around the corner, punch it and they wouldn't rev anymore, then I'd have to shift out and go. It worked my ass because I felt like I was shifting a lot, couldn't hit the timing on the gears right. I wasn't really happy with what was happening. I kept riding. By the third lap, I was figuring it out. I'd fly into a corner and not downshift, basically be a gear high and going into the corner my rpms would be pretty low. I'd punch it halfway through the turn and she'd slide on around and friggin bust ass outta there. You have to ride it and shift it almost like you would a 4 stroke. In the 4th lap, I had the hang of it. I could take corners much faster and let the motor lug and pull me through the turn. I'd come out of the turns faster, but I felt like I was working less. I was much less fatigued after the 4th lap then I was the 1st lap and the 4th lap was much much faster. I'm currently geared 15/38, which is equivalent to 16/41. These courses are 50/50 tight woods,/high speed sections and with these pipes and gearing, this thing pulls through the woods like mad, but I still have enough gearing to really open her up in a hurry. Depending on where your riding, they may or may not work for you. I could see where they'd be a lot different to ride at the dunes. For how I'm racing, these things work totally awesome, it just took a little time for me to "relearn" how to ride it. I would like to have a little more top, but I don't. I'm getting a Dyna ignition in the mail soon and I've been told that the "high" setting on that will help a llittle, but we'll see just how much. Dunno if that helps or makes sense. Later.
  18. You da man Rod. Thank you. I forgot that Pro Design makes a shifter I can get through RMATV. But I'm gonna check out ModQuad. Really appreciate the links and pics. Scott
  19. Fellas, Just curious as to your pre race routines and what you do to prep your machine for the race. I have my little routine, but I was just thinking if I was missing something or not. I always feel like I'm forgetting something. The first race in our new year is this weekend and I've got a nice long list of crap to do to be ready. Our low for Sunday is 18 and our high is 34, so it'll be a nice chilly morning to say the least. Later.
  20. Perpetual cooling problems are often signs of other things... like lean jetting (which I think is most common) or a bad impeller or clogged rad or something. It's not normal for a banshee to just run hot all the time. So, people, if it's running hot a lot, especially in the winter, start looking for other things or kiss your motor good bye. (Not directed at you specifically KRMit, just info for all)
  21. Now your're talkin...
  22. Honestly, I've still got to do some last minute jetting myself, and I've been putting it off for awhile now... lazy i guess...
  23. Hell, I'll sell you my Razrs, that are 90%, mounted to .190s or unmounted, your choice. They are great tires, but they're just sitting in my shop. PM me if you want to.
  24. I mean just LOADS of info there....
