  1. well hell. The reason your plugs are black and it smokes so much is due to your jets being to rich. Do a wide open throttle test, run wot, kill it and if they're black adjust your main jet down to where they are a dark chocolate color. Then let it idle and check them, and adjust your pilot likewise. I'm not too familiar with jetting those big carbs, but with a little trial and error you'll get it right on.
  2. That depends on your riding, but generally for your main jet, as fast as you can get it, wide open throttle, then kill it and check them. Where I check them at I can only top out in 5th, so I rev out in 5th and kill the motor and check the plugs. I like a hint of oil, personally, hardly enough to make a mark on my finger, but perfect would be a dark chocolate color, and thats not the little tip, thats down in the base of the plug, down in the ceramic. I'm sure you can find an image here, or someone can provide one.
  3. Throw in a 245 and see where your at. To check your compression, pull the spark plug cables (so it won't start) and pull one plug and thread in the tester and kick it until the gauge stops climbing and write the number down and do it to the other side. Tell us your numbers and we'll tell you if your good.
  4. No, you don't seem to have the power to pull the 15 tooth sprocket. Either get a smaller rear sprocket, or go back to a 14 tooth front. 38 teeth would be about equal to going back to a 14 tooth in front, so maybe try a 40 or 39 tooth sprocket to see if you can pull that. You can get them at Rocky Mountain ATV. Your sprockets have nothing to do with your jetting. You can either change your sprockets to find out what your bike can handle, or you can get some pipes and other goodies to get the power to pull the 15 tooth up front. For instance, there are some guys here that run a 16 tooth up front. I currently run a 15 tooth up front, and handle it pretty easily w/o too many mods.
  5. The pistons alone aren't going to give you top end, they'll just help increase compression, which will help emphasize how your bikes setup. If you have low pipes and your setup for mad low end, and you increase your compression, it will help emphasize your low end. What you need are some midrange pipes, they'll give you some low/mids and allow you to pull through the top. You'll be happy you did. Big Blue - you have got to change your avatar, I've seen it like 5 times tonight, and it is seriously distracting.
  6. Holyman, you must be wacked. How many pics do you need? I appreciate, as I'm sure all here do the fact that your fixing all these kickers on your dime. I don't want to waste your time to fix my kicker because it's not rattling (yet...). When it does, I'll give you a call and be happy to pay you for it. At least buy you a case of something special. Scott
  7. So what about your a-arms? You guys protecting those also? I'm getting it all scratched up and its starting to rust a little. I may have to get me some chromies, or some sweet quicksands. Thanks again for the feedback.
  8. Just for the record, this is not my auction, I merely found these browsing Ebay and thought you all might enjoy looking at the designs. Scott
  9. Absolutely no offense intended, but they look like the stock paint to me, however new condition.
  10. Going from 26mm to 28mm will benefit. Just how much depends on your mods, but then if you don't have a lot of mods, you might be better off waiting on the carbs and get some pipes, or a high compression head for more benefit. 140 mains seems a little lean to me, but I'm not sure with those size carbs. Best thing to do is talk to a local shop, they'll have some good info on the local elevation and climate. Scott
  11. you have to show us how good u are first...
  12. that takes the fun out of it...
  13. Bluetraxx is for 3rd grade girls.
  14. Those are big carbs, what type of mods do you have and what's your elevation? What doesn't sound "rite", have you ridden it and checked the plugs, or does it smoke a lot, or any other info? Scott
  15. Man, the White Bros. boost bottle is the best. It will add so much midrange power, it's like throwing a set of 30mm pwks on . When I put mine on, it was like a totally different bike. Sorry, I just couldn't resist. I wish that was the truth, but I think you bought a pretty item that is just gonna be pretty. I think most of the people that notice a difference, the difference is in their head. They look good, but don't get your hopes up.
  16. Cool, appreciate the info guys.
  17. When I changed over to my T2 bars, I used the Tag oversize clamps and removed my key switch. I used the two wires from the key switch and wired them to the kill switch, one wire to each side, doesn't matter which, just so the circuit is broken. I now have my kill switch or the on/off switch with the light switch. I don't remember the wire colors, just use the wires and the key switch and reroute them over to the bar where you want the tether and connect them.
  18. That just seems to be where the power drops off at, it looks like a 2 stroke curve. That particulr machine doesn't rev out like the others, and that graph helps you see where the shift point would be.
  19. Kinda funky looking rotor. Ebay link There's also a cross one, pretty ugly here. I wouldn't have either one.
  20. I'd like to be there, but I'm going to OKC to go furniture shopping with the wifey. I'm west of Sherman a little, but we'll definitely have to meet up sometime and throw some dirt. Scott
  21. I'll try to remember what I have. Front shocks Stock head Stock pipes Stock silencers Stock handlebars (I know someone needs these) Stock headlights Stock nerf bars Stock front bumper Should have the stock carbs Kick in the head (for cheap) Make an offer if you want something. All stuff is in good condition.
  22. Ok, looking for some skid plates. I'm unsure whether I need them for the A-arms, or for the rear rotor/sprocket (since there is one somewhat). Will an A-arm skid help strengthen at all? I'm concerned with fit, I know some of the companies don't really strive for fit and finish, and I don't want a PITA. Cool, let me know.
  23. hahahahahahha, ohhh man that's funny. I will have to try to remember that. Thanks boon for that.
  24. I would like to take a ride on one. A friend rode one and said it wasn't as strong as he thought it would be, but then, no one believes a word he says. I'd like to try for myself. The clutch pull felt very light on the one in the showroom. Is the Blaster going out as well, and isn't it the '05 model year to be last?
  25. ? what arms ??? im going to make my own with the help of gary at quicksand motorsports. Evil, can I sit in?
