looking for pics of YFZ shocks mounted on stock arms, and also pics or a little more detail on what has to be grinded down or off to make the YFZ shocks fit on a stock arm. i've got a set waiting to get put on and just don't want to grind too much off.

have you done a search on this forum or the images forum yet? I know I put up ictures of what neds to be done with +2+1 and someone else did it on stock arms. Just search a little

yes did a search and found your pics and a few of them already mounted on stock arms but none on how much to grind off. everybody says to take just a little off the bottom mount but not sure how much. some say the half moon while others say just the mount. so i'd like to have some clarification.

You have to try it yourself because some bikes may be different. Some people dont have to grind their top mounts at all but i did. Just grind the bottom mount until the shock can fit in place. ASk one of your friends to help you and to act as a second opinion.

Here's a few pic of what I had to grind highlighted in red. It was mostly trial and error. Just grind a little, then check for fit. I had a buddy watching to see what was hitting, while I was trying to put the suspension into every angle possible while still sitting in my garage.

thanks for the pics, did get mine on but just to let others know i had to grind more off the bottom to make mine fit. i also took a little off the shock itself on the bottom to make sure there was no rubbing on the a-arm. took a little longer than expected but i'm sure it was worth it. rode yesterday hard (do alot of rough rocky trail riding) and there was a big difference, they are a little stiff but feel alot better than stock and once you get some speed up they are pretty smooth. going to adjust on all the setting to try to get them where i like them.

I finally got mine on and they look & work great!! I had to do the grinding on the top & btm shock mounts, but I also had to grind a little off the bottom of the shocks itself. It would hit the btm of the a arm before it would line up with the bolt hole! Believe me I tried everything possible to avoid having to grind on the shock but, nothing worked. After I grined a little off the shock it worked fine..only had to grind maybe 1/8 inch.

 

Did anyone else have this problem??

yes i had to grind off the bottom of the shock itself. but not much. now just workin on getting them set. got them pretty close and love em so much smoother than stock.

ok, so with all this grinding how much does it weaking the shock mounts? I mean, cause Im gunna start racing MX C class, and its gunna take a pounding, I just dont wanna break anything..what should I have to do on aftermarket a-arms?
