PJ24 Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 Trey Bird(Teamrealtree) and I decided to take a trip over to are local Dragstrip friday night (numidia dragway) for sum shits and giggles. We went over expecting nutthing but have a good tyme and sum runs to see where are bikes stood in the 1/8 mile...We didnt kno nutthin about dragging are quads on the asphalt with a tree and reaction times. So we showed up to see all dragged out bikes, other banshee's wit wheelie bars, slicks.slammed to the ground, extended sing arms, open carbs things like that....ya it intimanated us a lil bit....we didnt kno what we got are selfs into. So we gave it hell haha....aND THe night turned out pretty good...yes it was a little shaky launching "Lucy" on the asphalt witout eat'N shit. Both of are best runs where 9.1"s. We thought that was pretty good considering it was r 1st tyme and sum other banshees where running around the same and they had wheelie bars and slicks....At the end of the practice runs they had a bracket race...And Trey Bird and i made it to the top 3 out of 15 other quads....ya what r the chances of him and i doin that are 1st tyme...We were shocked.... unforchintly Trey Bird lost in semi finial to another banshee...He ran faster than his tyme he wrote down ...So it was down to me and this other guy who was all decked out in leather yamaha LEATHER Gear and and a dragged out bike...Who won the past 2 weekends...Thought i was losing for sure....I ended up winning the race and 100 buckaroo's, and a pictue in the winning circle haha. My Best tyme of the night was 9.140 at 75.95 MPH in the 1/8mile......We personal dont kno how good a 9.1 is...so if any 1 has a idea...let us kno lol...We had a blast and maybe do it every now and then...But i give credit to those Drag Guys out there....its not as easy as it looks. docjcwatson Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 Not bad at all man! The tree is not the easiest thing to learn with a clutch. I have the wheelie bar on my bike and it is nice to rely on. Also, I don't have front brakes. Those are great for launching. Don't the bikers give some badass looks when you line up? Hahaha. Quote

TeamRealtreeHD Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 There are guys that go down there all the time... on quads to try to win the money. PJ and me just went down for shits and giggles since we got a free pass (last time we went we got rained out, so they let us come back any friday night) PJ did very well. We both got byes since we had the best reaction times on the tree. There were several automatics, and 3 other 'shees. I beat my time that I predicted... if you beat the time, you are out. It goes by whoever gets closest to their times that you say. Congrats Pauly John!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
TeamRealtreeHD Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 (edited) I also ran 20" razr's... PJ knows my bike is geared for 22"s. I think my bike could have easily gotten in to the mid 8's, maybe lower. I didn't realize the 1/8 was that long. I was wound out with the 20"s by the end. I would have gotten much faster times and MPH with the 22"s I usually run around home. I put the smaller ones on to be consistent... sad to say, it isn't about the fastest bike. I wish it was. But they run it that you get 2-4 trial runs at the beginning of the night, then you get your time slips. You see your times, and then the actual races start. You write down your time you think you can match, but not beat or you're out... and when 2 guys race, the guy who is most consistent, or closest to the time he picked, moves on to the next round. With my tires I run around home, and gearing, I am ahead of PJ's bike by 8-10. But it is never consistent. I put the 20"s on and it was alot more consistent at the start and finish. Just like PJ said, I beat my time, not by much, by 8/100's of a second, and the other guy was slower than his time by 4/10's of a second... but he didn't beat it. So he moved onto the championship. It was just as much fun for me to watch PJ from the big hill as it was to run the bike. But PJ prooved he is a good rider, and racer on Friday night... launched his bike very well in the championship. Rode a wheelie out to about 3rd gear and shifted while doing so to keep close on his time he picked. Ended up beating it by 2 1/100's of a second. But the other guy beat his worse. So PJ was awarded the win, and made the Coal Region Proud! Edited August 25, 2008 by TeamRealtreeHD Quote
sheeblue01 Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 I was in Odessa Texas 3 weeks ago at an 1/8th mile strip down there. There was a cub motor on meth running 6.90s at 92. He had a 2-5 override and was on like 22 inch tires that were wrinkling the wall when he left the line. Quote
