i dont know what the real deal is with the dm cylinders but i was just in glamis at the night drags and there was a bunch of dm cylinders outthere.......from what i seen was a 26 mil dm,18 mil dm,7mil dm......and hand full more that i have no idea what the stroke was.........any how the dm's that were out there this weekend were getting beat by regular cheethas......i just thought from everyone talking about how fast the dm cylinders were here on the hq and PS that they were going to be alot faster than a regular cheetha.........they are not.....if anything i think that they are slower.....i have seen a bunch of dm bikes run other than just saturday night.......but i had never seen them in large numbers like this past saturday....maybe is just a west coast thing....what have you guys seen?

Maybe they (the bike owners, not Calvin) don't quite have them lined out yet... I have beat an 18 mil and a 20 mil DM on my 14 mil Cheetah. The 20 mil ran like shit..the 18 mil and I ran nearly identical times.

i would understand 2 or 3 dm cyl bikes were maybe not tuned in. also they were all in simular set ups[drag chassy ...etc]...........i mean some were going pretty fast they were in the 80mile an hour range.........all am saying is a 18 mil dm vs a 10 mil cheetha should not even be a close race.........atleast that was my understanding from what everyone was saying about the dm cylinders......also dont get me wrong the best running dm was not to far off the cheethas tail[none the less it was the tail end the dm's saw]........and they cost maybe close to twice as much as a cheetha.....so is it a good investment? maybe time will tell but for now i would not build one myself..imo

Dm also hasnt been around as long as the cheetahs have and people havent had the chance to try 30 different combos to see which one works best.....Nate is making 170hp with an 18mil dmx......so i dont think they are a bad cylinder in the right hands

The DM is a great cylinder design. But is its only as good as the porter and or the tuner. I had K&T Performance do my 10mm DM and it was out running a 14mm Cheatahs in et and mph. I have seen a 4mm cub out run bigger motors. Its not always the larger CC size of the motor that wins races. It is the tuner and the rider skill.

the dm have been out for a while and i understand what you're saying but what am saying is this.....out of all the dm's outhere not one simply just smoked the competion........am sure that there are better running dm cylinders outhere but i have not seen one yet.......not trying to start no shit eather it was just what i seen for myself........

The DM is not like the cub. The cub you can get away with a clean up port job and it runs great. The DM needs to be ported by someone that knows what they are doing or it will not run correctly. My DM dyno numbers were 138 hp and 78 torque. I would be pissed off to spend money for a big motor and it not run like a bat out of hell.

Agree with Methy...

DMs need just a little work, and proper setup.

We've got a guy here with a 10mil DM on a Tyson drag frame, I'm pretty sure the motor was done by A&S....

Has run 3.5s to 3.7s.... No 10 mil cub or cheetah around here is gonna do that..

I'm seeing similar, I have a friend here w/ a 10mil DM running 3.60's, 70's, depending on the track surface. It's impressed the heck out of me

My 4mm dm is making mid 120's on motor show me another 4mm that can do that :notworthy: Im not alone here either there are several other builders in the country that have done it titan's 4mm dm ran if i remember right in the 50's or 60's at gilbert thats fast period. The dm's do require a ton of work and let me tell you from experience if its not done right it will not run right.

Another thing to consider is setup, how a bike performs at the track or at the hill is 80% setup, everything has to work together and no the DM's havent been around long enough to try every combination of every chassis, tire, and clutch setup there is like the cheetahs that have been around for what like 15+ years. And dont believe everything people tell you they have either jmo...

its things like what you are saying that lead me to believe that the dm's were a superior cylinder and i believe what you're saying but what im saying is i just have not been fortunate[sp]enough to have seen one that impressed the crap out of me....and i ride i go every where out here in cali......and like i said i have seen dm's before this saturday night...i mean matt from shrear has or had an 18 mil dm the runned 82/84 up the hill but i have also seen cheethas do that......not saying that matts bike was slow but i have seen regular cheethas do those mile an hour runs just as consistently....maybe the track is a little difrent than a sand hill....by no means im i trying to start a pissing contest or trying to put anyone down im just simply pointing out my observasions............and listening to everyone elses

setup and rider are a huge factor and as many have stated these are just clean up and go cylinders,They are alike to the cheetahs as far has alot of working needing done for the port timing to be correct along with the countless hours of case work,The reasoning for the dm cylinder is you can get more tourqe from them now once you have it how you use it determines how fast or how good the bike runs.
