fitz18 Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 Hi all. My bike blew up and I am just buying the parts for her. Any way I bought a rick stator timing plate and want to know will I have to go up in mains and rejet the bike when I install it? Ive dmc aliens, k & N filter in box with lid on but snorkle removed, 240 mains, stock pilot, lightly ported cylinders, wiseco pistons, needle in middle clip. Bike ran greeat before it blew up so just wondering if i need to change my jetting when I put the timing plate on. Thanks everyone Quote
LiftdT4R Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 You shouldnt have to change the jetting at all for a timing increase. It will make the bike run a tad hotter, and Ive heard people saying you might have to go up 1 size on the mains. But I never had any issues with keeping the same jetting and Ive done the plate on 3 bikes now. Quote
mopar1rules Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 what elevation are you at? you got all that done to your bike and are only running 240 mains? sheesh, no wonder it blew up Quote
fitz18 Posted August 19, 2008 Author Report Posted August 19, 2008 what elevation are you at? you got all that done to your bike and are only running 240 mains? sheesh, no wonder it blew up Im at sea level but Im also in Ireland so my mains suit it over here. The bike had been running for ages before it blew up. I asked my local guy if I needed 260's and he said no. Said she would just bog. Im pretty sure my jetting was good but once I tear it down I will get to see what caused the engine to give. What should I expect the pistons to look like if i was lean? Hole in the top of them?
