banshee 1 Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 hey guys I'm new to the site, and having trouble with my carb jetting. i purchased the bike from a guy who just liked to throw money around. In short the bike realy needs tuned. I've played around with jet size and needle placement but cant get it right. It's an 02 shee, 350 cpi in frame pipes, boost bottle, v-force 2 reeds, K&N filter, + 4 deg., at 500 ft. elevation, 300 mains with needle set on#2 clip from top. how would you jet this thing????? banshee 1 Posted August 17, 2008 Author Report Posted August 17, 2008 also i foul plugs very easy if im not in the power band all the time. i tried a few plug chops, they were black. do you have to change plugs every chop????? Quote
xXBlessedWithDeathXx Posted August 17, 2008 Report Posted August 17, 2008 well if you can get it to roll that a start. now when you did this chop did you put in new plugs when the shee is warmed up do a wide open throttle 1st threw 6th gear pull in the clutch and shut off the bike then pull the plugs or did you just ride and the plugs were black? _Hex* Posted August 17, 2008 Report Posted August 17, 2008 go 310-320 on the main jets, 27.5 on the pilot, um... check the writing on the needles make sure they are stock go 4th clip down from top. and about 1 1/2 turns out on the airscrew. that should take care of it. also if you arnt ported and not always running full race gas just go at most 3 degrees i dont think it makes a difference putting too much on it. Paddleboy Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 stock pilots are 25 and yes you have to replace the plugs after every chop. 1-6 wot pull clutch and dont ride it after its off untill you switch the plugs Quote

mdhc500 Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 (edited) These guys have you on the right track. When jetting stick to tuning one circuit at a time and start with dialing in your mains first. When doing a plug chop always use new plugs. Ride the bike and get it up to operating temp. Throw in new plugs. WOT 1-6 pull clutch, kill motor and hold in the clutch until the bike is stopped. Pull plugs, throw in old ones to get you back to the house or truck. When you get your mains dialed in work on your pilot/needle... You should be really close with the stock pilot, and the needle on the 3rd or 4th clip, and the air screw(s) is usually always somewhere near the 1.5 out spot. Good luck...
