Dave I. Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 I bought a used axle and was missing a lock washer for one of the pinch bolts and a couple of the Allen heads on the pinch bolts were not in the best shape. Not stripped, but not something I wanted to have strip out next time I took it apart. Called JJA and told Jeff what I was looking for and during the conversation ended up telling him to just give me a whole new set, so I would have some spares. I also told him to give me 8 bolts for the sprocket, and 4 for the brake hub. Im sure there are misc washers that go with the sprocket bolts. At no time during this conversation did Jeff tell me that the bolts were expensive and I may just want to buy what I NEED, rather than extras. After my conversation with Jeff he transfer me back to the lady that answered the phone and takes my CC information. I asked for a price and she wasnt sure, Jeff hasnt written up the tag yet. My mistake for not getting a price before I said ok. I told her to email me the receipt. I get home from work and check my email. I figured that they may be more expensive through them than if I would go buy them at the store, but I didnt know where I would find that style lock washer so it was my only option. My bill was $115.00 for 20 bolts, and 16 washers I believe. I email them and ask whats up the the price. Jeff's response was basically they are Made in the USA and that is rare and they are high quality bolts and thats the reason for the price. Edit: I also got lugnuts from them So, basically what im getting at......If you need to order any hardware from them, make sure you get a price before you hang up. Edit: I also got lugnuts from them Quote
dajogejr Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 What...no lube?? I just got a JJ&A style, keyed axle... It was missing 3 pinch bolts. I went to Home Depot and got 3 stainless pinch allen bolts, made in the USA, for about 5 or 6 bucks... That's flat out highway robbery...and they wonder why everyone is making knock off shit for half the price... Quote
shanYE west Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 Fuck that!! I'd send that shit back!!! Quote
Erwin8r Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 (edited) Well, I just paid $30 + shipping for their Keihin Idle screw "bolts..." But they are much better than the stock plastic crap. Things made in the USA are just more expensive. I'm not saying that $2 a bolt is great, but I'd rather spend the $2 on an American bolt than .75 on a questionable foreign bolt... Dave I. Posted August 15, 2008 Author Report Posted August 15, 2008 Id be happier than a queer in a dick tree if I paid 2 dollars for the bolts......these are pushing the 4 dollar mark...i dont know exactly since I didnt even get a price break down... Quote

I hear yuo--but just note that they're not alone. Ever try to buy bolts from Cascade? Same thing... What I usually do is find a good "nuts and bolts" place locally. Here in the Los Angeles area, we have about two or three good ones (Metrix, etc.), and although not "cheap," they are certainly better than going straight to Cascade (or JJA). Recently, I needed to find 2 6x55mm bolts in order to mount my Trinity Exaust (pipe hangers), and bought a set of stainless for $2.50 each. Good quality, US-made hardened bolts... Quote

KaosBanshee44 Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 That's nuts, so minus the nuts, bolts, lock washers you could get a axel for 150 bucks cheaper than what they sell them for....Damn Quote
