Shee's Dirty Posted August 4, 2008 Report Posted August 4, 2008 Debating on a 4mil setup, starting from scratch basically. I do more trail riding than anything, but also like to drag. I don't want to make TOO much power to ride the trails with a hard powerband. What HP range should I try to be in, or what are my options? Who is the cheapest package deal supplier for engine internals/pistons (complete 4 mil) etc. etc. Ebay the best source?? Thanks in advance!! Quote
fastbanshee8 Posted August 4, 2008 Report Posted August 4, 2008 I found out that Ebay isn't the best choice. Try Fast Racing for your parts. Sounds like you need to go with a 4mil stock cylinder, instead of a cub. The stockers will be more trail friendly, and can still be used for dragging. Quote
rb0804 Posted August 4, 2008 Report Posted August 4, 2008 theres a million builders out there, you gotta find the one that suits you. A +4 crank will give you more low end torque, a plus for riding the trails, but the banshee isn't really a trail bike. Your gonna have to hit your pipe, port, carb combo dead on because your going after two totally different extremes. Ones low end torque and the other is a top end screamer, somewhere you gonna have to compromise. Quote

Old combo: No-Toil Filter Pro Flow filter mount 2 into 1 34mm PJ Noss Reed Spacers Boyeson power reeds Bored .030 over .030 Wiseco's .010 milled head Crank welded and trued DMC Alien complete exhaust. Dyna FS Ignition Ricky Stator Stator It made 51hp, it ran so so, looking for a lot more, but like I said, trails are my main territory.....What will a .30 over 4mil make on a dyno? Quote

You can get way more power out of it just by changing some of those parts out. Ditch the 2 into 1, the reed spacers, the boyseen reeds, the stock head, and the dmc exhaust. Run twin 28mm flatslides, stock reed cages with carbon tech reeds, get a pro design head and run 175-185 psi compression, get some pro circuits, and have some port work done. Also run curve 3 on the dyna ignition for the best power gains across the board. I programmed 4 degrees of advance in my FS to curve 3, and set my timing plate to zero. Quote
Shee's Dirty Posted August 4, 2008 Author Report Posted August 4, 2008 What kinda power would that make? Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy the 4mil kit for $450, have cylinders bored, and a lil minor port work? Quote

Once you do that, then you have a bunch of parts to bolt onto the 4 mill that are NOT low-mid power making parts. Not to mention the single carb will be holding it back about 4-5 hp on the top end. Shee's Dirty Posted August 4, 2008 Author Report Posted August 4, 2008 I have a dual carb setup too that came off a friends banshee. I could go either way. I'd just rather have known good new internals and cant see going back to stock really...Anyone have a proven 4mil combo I could just copy?? Quote

I though the key here was too make a strong trail bike? So if you do the 4 mill, then what about these parts that are holding the bike back? I thought your little deal said you had wiseco pistons and a welded crank? How is that not having good internals? Quote
Shee's Dirty Posted August 4, 2008 Author Report Posted August 4, 2008 That was a previous combo, I no longer have that short block, I have all the external aftermarket parts, not the old motor itself, I sold it. I have a factory virgin engine I am looking to build. Sorry for the confusion. I appreciate all the help! Quote
