shee4speed Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 I was doing some work on the shee and had the black box and the little silver box(on the rear) hanging from the wires. So I fire the bike up and one headlight goes out then the other. I pulled the bulbs out and they don't look blown. Would that blow them? Quote
KaosBanshee44 Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 The black box is your CDI and the silver box is a voltage regulator and has a ground coming off of it did you disconnect the ground? That my be your prob Quote
shee4speed Posted August 2, 2008 Author Report Posted August 2, 2008 yeah the ground is disconnected. do you think if I hook it up the lights will work again? Quote
TeamRealtreeHD Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 yeah the ground is disconnected. do you think if I hook it up the lights will work again? Yes... Quote

Snopczynski Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 (edited) :shoothead: yeah..lol Glad i could help ya..lol The voltage regulator grounds through the body of the unit. More than likely you blew the bulbs or melted some wiring. There is still another ground down on the engine, so the bike was probably still grounded through the engine mounting bolts. You will have to run it and see. Edited August 2, 2008 by Snopczynski Quote
shee4speed Posted August 2, 2008 Author Report Posted August 2, 2008 Okay, thanks guys. i'll try it in the morning. I just dont know why the lights were on and died one at a time. Quote

The bulbs don't look blown, but I guess till everything gets hooked back up, I'll never know. Quote
shee4speed Posted August 2, 2008 Author Report Posted August 2, 2008 I hooked everything back up and still no lights. Why would running the bike with those two pieces hanging blow the bulbs? Quote
Snopczynski Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 I hooked everything back up and still no lights. Why would running the bike with those two pieces hanging blow the bulbs? With the regulator not grounded, the system voltage gets upwards of 16 to 18 volts. The bulbs can't handle that. Quote
shee4speed Posted August 2, 2008 Author Report Posted August 2, 2008 The regulator the little silver thing? I just remounted it where it was adnd grounded the little short black wire. i am going to run and grab some bulbs now. Quote
shee4speed Posted August 2, 2008 Author Report Posted August 2, 2008 Well the motorcycle shop didn't have any so I think I will just go aftermarket at this point. The tailight works so I'm sure the electrical is all good. Thanks! Quote
TeamRealtreeHD Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 If you need bulbs, let me know. I can send some out your way. It'll cost 1 or 2 bucks, I can just ship them to you, no biggie. I can ship them Monday morning with my hubs to another member. I have 4 bumbs sitting around.... 2 new, 2 used. All 4 work. Just let me know. Quote
shee4speed Posted August 3, 2008 Author Report Posted August 3, 2008 Man that is very cool of you. I was currently shopping for some trailtechs. I think I will just go that route. Finally an excuse to upgrade the lights. Thanks again bro! Quote
TeamRealtreeHD Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 No problem... they are here if you change your mind. I agree though on the trailtechs, they look pretty good and from what I hear really light up nicely Quote
