I was doing some work on the shee and had the black box and the little silver box(on the rear) hanging from the wires. So I fire the bike up and one headlight goes out then the other. I pulled the bulbs out and they don't look blown. Would that blow them?

:shoothead: yeah..lol Glad i could help ya..lol

The voltage regulator grounds through the body of the unit. More than likely you blew the bulbs or melted some wiring. There is still another ground down on the engine, so the bike was probably still grounded through the engine mounting bolts. You will have to run it and see.

shit! I didn't smell no melted wiring. The bulbs don't look blown, but I guess till everything gets hooked back up, I'll never know.

I hooked everything back up and still no lights. Why would running the bike with those two pieces hanging blow the bulbs?

With the regulator not grounded, the system voltage gets upwards of 16 to 18 volts. The bulbs can't handle that.

If you need bulbs, let me know. I can send some out your way. It'll cost 1 or 2 bucks, I can just ship them to you, no biggie. I can ship them Monday morning with my hubs to another member.

I have 4 bumbs sitting around.... 2 new, 2 used. All 4 work. Just let me know.

Man that is very cool of you. I was currently shopping for some trailtechs. I think I will just go that route. Finally an excuse to upgrade the lights. Thanks again bro!

No problem... they are here if you change your mind. I agree though on the trailtechs, they look pretty good and from what I hear really light up nicely
