All I can say is that I am very impressed...WOW. My bike just plain hauls ass now. My buddy recently purchased a new raptor 700 and he always was just out in font and I could never catch him....not a problem anymore..those CPI'S just kept on pulling..I blew past him like he was sitting still  I have a trail tech speedometer and not sure how accurate they are but my speed before the port and bigger carbs was 68 to 70 my speedometer was 90 to 93 after. Just wanted to say thanks to Kevin for the fine work and great turnaround time and answered any question I threw at him. Also thanks to jbooker82, Bansh-eman, slobanshee06, and Nitrotate for all there help with my jetting issues. Now I did a plug chop and do these look O.K.?

Also I have a slight play in my rear axle...when I jack it up I can wiggle it ever so slightly. Is that normal or is my bearings going out?

Thanks

Tony

if you did the plug chop dont to a t then your left plug was way rich!!! and your right is just a little rich (this is where i keep mine). make sure your carbs are synced

For your axle, when you say it wiggles which way are to talking about? up/down? left/right? forward/back?

It was wiggling a little up and down..and what were you saying about my plugs you got a little type crazy  My carbs are synced according to the sync tool I have them idling at just under 5 and at about 1/8 to 1/4 they are at about 7.

Also I put in a Boss clutch with the heavy springs and my clutch lever is tight but sometimes when I shift it doesn't want to shift...it takes me a couple of tries to get it to the next gear sometimes..is this something that will get easier since it's new?

yea this stupid keybaord has all kind of crap under the keys,i need to clean it out but am too lazy.

it was supposed to say that "if you did the plug chop down to a "T" then your left plug was way rich!!!

If you didn't change your gearing, you're not gaining over 20MPH....so, I'd say it's inaccurate...

Or tire size, that will effect speed too.

That right plug, if the chop was done right, looks safely rich. Going leaner one to two sizes will net you NOTHING...I'd keep it where it is. Looks great.

Hey! Why you wrecking my game? :bunny: We always see 15 to 20 mph top end difference from our ported motors with pipes and carbs to unported piped bikes. Sometimes the bike was way out of tune to begin with but thats not my fault.

Unless you're gaining an additional 5 to 6000 RPM (usable) of course....you're not seeing that kind of gain without changing gearing or tires....that's my point...LOL.

Aside from that, a stronger motor will pull more gear, and get to the top end faster!!!!

Do you have a gear chart? I have one I can send you in an excel spread sheet. With just 3,000 more working rpm the bike will produce 20 MPH in top gear 15 MPH in 4 or 5 th. My dune/hill shoot port job that TRO73 has will produce the 3,000 more rpm on the top end compared to unported stock cylinder. So it can be done without changing gearing or tires. I've done it.

The gear chart is good to have if you don't have one. Its a working sheet that takes all the multiplication out of your hands. You can change gearing and tire size with it.

Nope...don't need one...:)

http://home.earthlink.net/~gellett/banshee.htm

My whole thing is this... Take a stock motor, stock geared, stock 20 inch rear tire bike. Say it pulls 6th gear to 8500 RPM.

Which...on a stock choked up motor is hard to do.

67 MPH. Now, the calculator doesn't take into account: Drag. Simply put. Rider weight, air pressure, surface type, etc.

Extend that same motor 3000RPM by mods (which...I've yet to see a banshee stock cylinder acutally pull to 11500, let alone rev that far that didn't have MAJOR work done to them, alcohol, etc.)

90 MPH.

Again, none of the drag variables are being taken into consideration.

All I'm saying is....gearing and tire size. If he simply gained that many MPH from porting alone....without changing gearing, tires...etc... hard to believe...

If he added pipes, carbs, porting, gearing, tires, etc. Yep....all day long.

But I know what it takes to do 90MPH... especially gaining 22 to 25MPH. Good porting, carbs, pipes...gearing, will get you there.

Being realistic, again with stock gearing (14/42 on 20 inch tires) let's say that motor will spin to 10,500.

That's 83 MPH with no drag...:)

Kev, not doubting your porting or work....just saying a 22 to 25 MPH jump is HUGE...porting alone will not get you there without other things to compliment them.

From my parts those are fighting words. Get ready for a soy bean tofu ass whipping

TRO73 what gearing are you running?

I did change my gearing...I'm running a 15T front and a 41T rear but that was my gearing before the port job also. The only change with the port was 35mm carbs. I didn't mean to post this and start a fight. lol I just wanted to let Kevin know that I am extremely happy with the work that he did for me.

mmm its entirely possible.

before the porting and carbs, your bike was only pulling 8000rpm (im assuming 20inch tyres?)

there mustve been something wrong with it though, or you are very heavy??!!

now its pulling 10500+, which is a very good result with that gearing!

good job
