T-daddy Posted July 11, 2008 Report Posted July 11, 2008 would using sandpaper to take off the surface rust hurt any thing i tried a lil part of it it took it right off with ease Quote
NitroTate Posted July 11, 2008 Report Posted July 11, 2008 It will take the rust off yeah. It will probably scratch it too and if you don't coat it with something you're just inviting rust back again. Quote

jbooker82 Posted July 11, 2008 Report Posted July 11, 2008 When you stratch chrome it will rust again. so buy using sand paper your only going to make the problem worse. try using 000 or 0000 steel wool. Quote
NitroTate Posted July 11, 2008 Report Posted July 11, 2008 I know there are some rust inhibiting products out there. You can probably find something decent at an auto parts place. Aside from actually using a specialty product or painting/coating the surface you'll have to continue to keep them nice manually. If you are sure to clean them really good and polish them on a semi regular basis and always dry them well you should be ok for a pretty long time. But to answer your question, polishing them will help and just remember not to let water just sit on them during storage or extended time and you should be ok. Like I said before though, sand paper will scratch it, if you take your time and use some steel wool and elbow grease you'll be better off. Quote
