jkwidener Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 (edited) Traded for a 1998 Banshee 350cc "so i was told" its a very fast and wicked machine. Has FMF pipes on it and jetted racing carbs and has just had a rebuild done recently. Here are the questions. What is the switch for on the clutch handle, Has a little thumb button you press down and then it catches the clutch handle when you pull it back. Also, what is the best fuel mixture to use? what is the best 2 cycle oil to use? This four wheeler came from south eastern Kentucky and is set for that altitude, i live in central Indiana, so what should the jets be set at? Also, i have installed new plugs, but when the banshee is cold, you have to start it with carb cleaner.. After it is warmed up, it starts just fine. Also it will not idle very well. Could this be because the electric switch in the thumb throttle is still hooked up? Sorry for all the questions, but i want to cover all areas before riding too much... Thanks for anyones help with this. You can see more pictures here. http://s101.photobucket.com/albums/m78/jkwidener/Banshee/ Edited June 17, 2008 by jkwidener Quote

I use AMS oil and mix it 40:1 and at times 50:1 but ti be safe i wouldnt go past 40:1. do you pull the choke when you first start the bike? Quote
KaosBanshee44 Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 PM me what answers you want for each question i charge 20 bucks a question. Let me know if your interested Just jokin i don't know what your talking about there being a button on the clutch handle you may have to enlighten me or someone else cause it's been a long time since i've seen a completly stock banshee. Alot of people use different fuel mixtures and oils so your gonna get thousands of different answers. I use Castor 927 and Motul for the trans case. For the jetting where are you at for sea level? For the not starting right and the bottom on the thumb throttle you have to give us more information for a answer. Is the TORS removed? Quote

But it doenst help to start it when its cold. Since this shee has racing carbs, is it still suposed to have a hose between both carbs? Quote

There is still wires going into the thumb throttle and i can hear a click of a switch when i lightly press the thumb throttle... Quote
KaosBanshee44 Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 If you have aftermarket carbs i'm sure the tors is removed they sit on top of the carbs and are ugly as shit. If you don't have them the switch in the thumb throttle won't do a damn thing if everything is unplugged. Quote
xXBlessedWithDeathXx Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 that happened to a friend with hard starting and starting fluid. I think it ended up to be the fuel line was to long it was holding a air bubble. i`m not exactly sure if that was it or not. If you read this matt chime in and tell us what that was. do you run a air box lid? clean filters? Quote

And on top of these carbs is just the throttle cable with the thread on cap... nothing electric on either carb.. Quote
xXBlessedWithDeathXx Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 see if it starts with the air box lid off. Quote
jkwidener Posted June 17, 2008 Author Report Posted June 17, 2008 (edited) see if it starts with the air box lid off. I have had the air cleaner lid off and it doesnt make a difference. And thank you to everyone who has replied already... Edited June 17, 2008 by jkwidener Quote
jkwidener Posted June 19, 2008 Author Report Posted June 19, 2008 I live 866ft above sea level, what should my carbs be set at? Also, when this shee is cold, why would i have to start it with carb cleaner? I have tried the choke, but doesnt change anything when its cold. Once the shee is warmed up, it will then start every time. Quote

I'm not sure if this is possible but you could check to see that when you pull the choke lever it is actually moving the choke inside the carb. The carb could be broken?? I'm winging this answer but anything is possible.... Edited June 21, 2008 by jcook33440 Quote
