decon Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 ok so I got this flywheel puller and it won't thread with my flywheel on my bike but it threads with this extra lightened flywheel that I have. Not sure what to do Quote
No Limit Powersports Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Just a dumb question but you are turning it left right? The flywheel is left hand threads. First try cleaning the threads and see if you can get it to start but if the threads are stripped out either a 3 jaw puller or take the standard puller center it up on the flywheel and weld it this will ruin you puller and flywheel but it will get it off at a last resort... decon Posted June 17, 2008 Author Report Posted June 17, 2008 yes i know its reverse threaded. i will try to clean the threads on the flywheel, i know the flywheel puller is good because it threads to my extra flywheel. but if worse comes to worst, where do i get the jaw puller from. Quote
No Limit Powersports Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 A 3 jaw puller is available at any of the local parts stores but certain ones with thick teeth will not work you will just have to look at them and see. Quote
okbeast Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Clean the threads and squirt a little WD on it. mine did this recently too, just had some dirt in everything. You can look at the threads to see if they're jacked up. Quote
KaosBanshee44 Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Hope your using one of these pullers the jaw pullers aren't worth a piss they do more harm than good. Get this puller and use a impact but from the way your talking about how it won't thread i'm pretty sure you are. Quote
NYUK Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 you need one of those toothbrush sized wire brushes. clean the shit out of the threads. Quote
decon Posted June 19, 2008 Author Report Posted June 19, 2008 Yah the threads don't look jacked I will try to clean them. Im assuming I can get the wired brush at a hardware store? Quote
