LIM_Whiteboy4life Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 Well i drain my fluids and pop my clutch cover off to inspect and find out why i have a rev. deficent* (spl chk?) "Ticks" coming from under the cover. So im checking out stuff that might make the sound, kick starter, plastic gear on the water impellar blah blah blah... checks out fine then i start looking at the clutch assembly and looking for pieces on the bottom of it, nothing..... hmmm so i grab hold of the clutch and deside to turn it with my hand on the clutch hub and i notice some play between the hub gear and the clutch hub (apox 1/4" of play) so it looks like i need a new hub :: but there might be a quick fix by tightening the hub nut down but i dunno i need to take it apart and see what exactlly is going on under there Quote
bansheejoel Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 by play do you mean back and forth (left and right) or push and pull play (up and down) if it is back and forth your cushions are prolly worn but i dont think 1/4" is bad. i had the exact same thing and put on a new oem basket and hub and it only has like 4 hours on it and it moves back and forth a little bit already so i wouldnt worry about it if thats the case Quote
banshee(911) Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 well hope you figure it out ive got the same sound after been to two builders still there ive replaced the tranny bearings i can hold a big screwdriver to the sprocket and hear the noise in there well my builder told me i needed new cases so i picked some up from nyuk but if thats not it then im going to b replacing my basket as well but neways good luck Quote
LIM_Whiteboy4life Posted June 17, 2008 Author Report Posted June 17, 2008 left and right motion, this tick is really annoying me, no loss in power and it goes away after it warms up.... im puzzeled, there is another thing that was on my mind, behind the clutch hub gear there is a piece of sheet metal, im not sure what its for but thats the only thing i can think of at the moment maybe its rubbing, and i noticed scratch marks on the hub "fingers" and the inside of the cover is smooth no scratches.... :shoothead: stumped.... bansheejoel Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 (edited) piece of sheet metal? the only sheet metal i can think of is the little piece that has the 2 screws...one goes to the upper case and the other screws into the lower case...that should for sure be on there if thats what your talking about. Other than that i wish i could help you out more. Believe me ive had every damn clutch issue known and now its to damn case problems lol and left to right movment is fine it just means your basket cushions are worn a little bit but 1/8th inch i wouldnt worry about. BTW every clutch boss that I have seen has the scratches on the outiside. I have no idea what causes them....dirty oil maybe? Quote
