rtcc Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 Which do you guys recommend? They come out to about the same price, the shaft being a little more if I dont send in mine. Is there a difference in the two? will I notice if both are installed or is it a waste of time? also, how hard is it to install the shaft? Im not taking my engine apart or anything. I know the star can go on without much work. thanks for the help Quote
Animalman294 Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 I have both, the shaft allows for really smooth shifts and the the star allows me to shift into neutral when the engine is running. They both are great mods in my opinion..................... Quote

yamaha_daniel Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 the shaft just pulls out after you remove your clutch basket and shifter, if im not mistaken you have to remove the shift shaft to get to the star i think ....some one will let you know if im wrong eather way you will have to drain oil, drain coolant, remove kick starter, remove clutch cover, remove clutch. then if you decide to do the star you will have to remove your shifter pull the shift shaft through (pull through the clutch side) then take out the star i think its just a star head screw that hold it on. -dan Quote
yamaha_daniel Posted June 14, 2008 Report Posted June 14, 2008 what exactly is modified on the shaft to make it easier? Quote
shee screams Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 I would like to know the answers to the same ?'s listed above. How does the shift shaft help? How hard would it be to modify my own shift star? Quote
sheerider1026 Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 im not sure on the shift shaft, but you can mod the star yourself,, very easy to do.. since you will have it torn apart why not do both mods??? its a no brainer the way i see it.. i did the same, but i still ended up with a dunable overide and lockout!! Quote
