Does anybody have a floating rear brake caliper on their swing arm?

What is it good for? Is the caliper same as stock or aftermarket?

Here is a picture of one of mine. The claiper floats on the two pins that are part of the two large, flat head, hex fastenrs you can see below the e-brake block-off plate. This particular caliper design is common to quite a few ATV's.

Mine looks pretty much the same...when you put new pads on, is there a bracket that gets in the way when the piston is pushed all the way in? On the picture you can see some scratches where I had to grind down, where the lower right corner of the pad meets the rotor.

Something is spaced wrong or the caliper has seized on the pins it sounds like. Can you take a top down picture so I can see if you have a spacing issue or a caliper issue?

Is this space for the bracket to move up and down in as it should be?

measurement is like 5/16"

There is supposed to be a bushing on the stud that the caliper mounting bracket that mounts to your axle carrier rides on in that picture.

The gold colored bracket in that picture is what floats back and forth in the same direction as the pads.

It should but doesn

That piston bolt sure was stuck  roundened the allen hole but finally got it off. Was rusted and the seals were torn. I guess that some grease in there from the beginning wouldn
