ndegle Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 I have a banshee and every once in a while it revs up for no reason. The throttle cables aren't snagged on any thing. It also does it when the motor is warmed up. I was wondering if it could be linked to a overheating problem, gas/oil ratio problem, or a jetting problem. The bike has toomey T5 pipes and a boost bottle, I have 270 jets in it and I am running a fuel ratio of 32:1 of klotz and premium gas. If anyone has any advice whatsoever it would be greatly appreciated Quote
BellicoseBanshee Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 Check the intakes for an air leak. Boost bottles are notorious for ripping intakes where the stand pipes meet the body. Move the boost bottle back and forth, it will be pretty obvious if the intakes are ripped. If one or both are sucking air, it could cause the increase in RPM... Quote
HammerShee99 Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 I'm betting that your boost bottle may have cracked your intake boots. Check them for cracks, and if they're cracked, that's your problem. Pull the intake boots, get new boots with a crossover tube, and get rid of the boost bottle. If they're not cracked, that makes things a little more complicated, but you should still pull the boost bottle, get rid of it, and swap in a regular crossover tube. Quote
2bzy2p Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 (edited) Id do a leakdown test because a ghost rev is an air leak or shortage of gas,your crank seal could be out or it could be as simple as reed boots or not tight enough or cracked..but more then likely your sucking air somewhere.
