03renegade800 Posted May 26, 2008 Report Posted May 26, 2008 (edited) My nephew was over today and decided to pull the breather tube out from the engine compartment, but it was still connected to the gas cap!! My question is; it has a spring clamp on it as if it was connected to another hose or something. Does this item just flop in the wind or do i need it hooked to something??? I know this is a stupid question... Edited May 26, 2008 by 03renegade800 Quote

jamebo Posted May 26, 2008 Report Posted May 26, 2008 Yeah the gas cap hose shouldn't be attached to anything on the other end, it's just to let air into the gas tank so the fuel can flow down into the carbs. Quote
RollinRhino Posted May 26, 2008 Report Posted May 26, 2008 I always buy or make a short breather tube anyway. Quote
KaosBanshee44 Posted May 26, 2008 Report Posted May 26, 2008 Yeah the gas cap hose shouldn't be attached to anything on the other end, it's just to let air into the gas tank so the fuel can flow down into the carbs. And to keep water being sucked into your gas tank from the vent hole on your gas cap. Quote
Animalman294 Posted May 26, 2008 Report Posted May 26, 2008 Ya, the breather tube shouldn't be attached to anything on the motor. It just slips down the the little hole in front of the cap............. Quote
2001Stroker Posted May 27, 2008 Report Posted May 27, 2008 I highly recommend buying one of these. I bought this one from ModQuad. It is basically a small breather hose with a check valve at the end. The valve lets the tank breathe, keeps water out, and when/if you flip your bike, liquid gold doesn't come out of the breather. As you can see from the pic, it takes much abuse from my little one. For some reason, that's the only thing he likes to touch on my bike. Can't remember how much it was, but I do know that I wouldn't have bought it if it was too expensive. lol. Be careful on ModQuad's website, though. Someone on here said last week that there was a trojan virus on their site. I'm sure it's fixed by now, but just a heads up. Quote
MILO Posted May 27, 2008 Report Posted May 27, 2008 there are several manufacturers of those little gas vent tubes. i have a tusk one from RMATV. looks much better and is a lot less hassle than the long stocker hose. if yours was hooked to something before, somebody had it all wrong. Quote
