mc4mill Posted May 21, 2008 Report Posted May 21, 2008 Purchaced 4mill, stock cylinder w/raceport. milled stock head, 150 psi. plus 5 timing. 110 race gas. Had lectron 34 carbs, Ran like raped ape. Got tired of the light switch, Removed lectrons, Installed 28pwks. Have great low end, Can't seem to dial in needle, Wants to spudder under lugging conditions, Have the needle leaned as far as possible. Not sure if this is normal, should I advance the timing to 6 degrees? Quote
locogato11283 Posted May 22, 2008 Report Posted May 22, 2008 what is your jetting? also need to know the altitude and temperature. i would set the timing at +4 or +7. those are the most common timing advances for a 4mm motor. Quote
mc4mill Posted May 22, 2008 Author Report Posted May 22, 2008 162 mains, 52 pilots, needle at top clip. sealevel. 55-70 degrees. I think I need to do a lead down, The idol is not consistant, Your thoughts? Quote
locogato11283 Posted May 22, 2008 Report Posted May 22, 2008 yea drop your pilot down to a 48 or maybe even a 45. then it will idle all day long. your main sounds about right. Quote
mc4mill Posted May 23, 2008 Author Report Posted May 23, 2008 Performed a leak down, It holds 6 lbs. But slowly drops to 5lbs. in about 12 mins. Is that exceptable? Quote
mc4mill Posted May 23, 2008 Author Report Posted May 23, 2008 Performed a leak down, It holds 6 lbs. But slowly drops to 5lbs. in about 12 mins. Is that exceptable? I'm now starting to wonder if I went to small on the 28mm pwk's, I.E. Am I starving it for air? Most people recommend 33 or 34's with a 4 mm. Another thing I found was my flywheel case cover had standing water in it. I know this is not good, what issues could this cause. Thanks Mike Quote
mopar1rules Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 Performed a leak down, It holds 6 lbs. But slowly drops to 5lbs. in about 12 mins. Is that exceptable? totally acceptable. the very edge of acceptability is 1 lb drop per 1 minute. Quote
