jonnyb Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Project 123456789lol Well Dan and I put together I think something nice to ride the trails. I started off putting in a K&N filter, boyenson Dual stage carbon fiber reeds, Boost Bottle , tors removel, rejected, trail port (A&S), compete rebuild (rebuilt stock crank trued & welded, seals, gaskets, bearing top and bottom, top end kit .30 over, rear bearings, painted pipes silver fmf fatty's, milled head 60 something) A&S. Got done doing one heat cycle. Took like six times to start it at first. One problem is when its at Idle when you push the throttle it makes a little click and stalls. :ermm: any suggestions will be taken off course. Sounded pretty bad ass. Oh the only thing that was disturbing is I looked to the exaust ports and looked at the pistons without the pipes on it. I saw F@cking a little bit of sand inside on the pistons. I wiped of mostly off, do I have anything to worry about? Any ways I will keep you guys posted and will get video this weekend at bull gap or gladwin. This thing should be a pretty good trail rider. And Thanks to A&S Good job so far besides not putting in my idle screws Quote
350BANSHEE350 Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 sounds good man, except the sand part, it might have been just on the piston and you got it all... but i would hate to see you post later saying your motor blew, IMO i would buy all new gaskets and quickly tear down the top end again and super clean the pistons and cylinders. jonnyb Posted May 13, 2008 Author Report Posted May 13, 2008 Well was hoping when I started it up, it just blew out the back. Quote
jonnyb Posted May 13, 2008 Author Report Posted May 13, 2008 Ok I need some imput from you HQ big dogs. Quote
jonnyb Posted May 13, 2008 Author Report Posted May 13, 2008 Any imput on the sand thing anyone. Quote
Erwin8r Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Any imput on the sand thing anyone. Sand in your cylinders can't be good... As suggested above, I would tear it down, hope my cylinders aren't scored, clean everything up, and start over. People are paranoid about cleanliness when assembling engines, and for good reason--any particle will score your cylinders, and possbly damage your rings. This will lead to poor performance, or KABOOM. Quote
dajogejr Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Well was hoping when I started it up, it just blew out the back. What do you mean it just blew out the back? You mean backfire?? Quote
jonnyb Posted May 13, 2008 Author Report Posted May 13, 2008 Talking about when I started it up for the first heat cycle I'm sure it got blown out the exaust. Just did my third cycle but before took the exuast off and looked fine. Quote

Just did my third cycle but before took the exuast off and looked fine. um, where did the sand come from??? Did you have funk in your pipes that got sucked back in? Was it in the lower end hanging? We have seen several motors grenade from a lack of cleaning the pipes out after a motor failure. I will bet there is damage from that sand encounter. I would start at the air filter and work forward. Yuu may also have detonation damage on the piston which will feel like sand. Depending on how much was there, I might pull the head and take a peek. Only takes one grain to ruin a crank. How was the motor built? Bottom up? Top end? Brandon Edited May 13, 2008 by blowit Quote
