GSXKID Posted May 12, 2008 Report Posted May 12, 2008 Well long story short my buddy needed money to go on a snowmobile trip so I bought his banshee motor for $100 over the winter. Its in pieces but it all looks to be there. I mostly ride woods and gravel pits and I wanted to build a 4 mill. I dont know if that will be over kill for what I ride, what do you all think. But I was just wondering what I needed to build a 4 mill. I know I need a crank but can I use stock cylinders and get the ported or what would be needed and what do I need for heads. Quote
okbeast Posted May 12, 2008 Report Posted May 12, 2008 A 4mil would be a great trail motor if it's ported right. You're correct, crank, porting for the 4mil and some domes cut for a 4mil or your stock head cut. Quote
gregrob Posted May 12, 2008 Report Posted May 12, 2008 You need about 1500 bucks to do it right unless you plan on porting it yourself. Then take about 300 off. And that's just for the motor, not carbs, pipes, swingarm, etc. Porting 350 Crank 450 Domes 80 Top End Kit, bore, hone 300 Clutch 50 Pingel to feed it 90 if you have bigger carbs (which you should) Pancake 50 Seals, gaskets 50 I just built one and it all adds up Quote

But why would I need a swinger? Quote
jesse1004 Posted May 12, 2008 Report Posted May 12, 2008 (edited) u dont need a swinger unless you plan on doing a lot of drag racing. its a little tricky tearing up the trails with an extra half a foot on the back. I actually got a -2 swinger with about 70 hp's and I LOVE it in the trails. but you should get a better suspension to control it a bit better. Edited May 12, 2008 by jesse1004 Quote
Animalman294 Posted May 15, 2008 Report Posted May 15, 2008 Or just build your motor and if you are having problems keeping the front end down get a longer swinger. Quote
