hey guys i live in Australia and im kinda new to bansheehq...well new to posting anyway, i have been looking on her for a few months and reading some awesome info. hopefully getting a banshee as soon as i finish University and get some money rolling in! i have been searching for what pipes, other engine mods, suspension and colours i might do to it when i get one. ill start off with one question and no doubt be asking more sometime down the track...

What do you guys know about the Duncan racing national kit with either the PT mid or Hi revs???? anyone ridden a bike with this done?

Im looking more at the hi revs and the midrange porting option.

thanks guys

I was on Duncan's support team awhile back.. I had the National Hi-rev kit and used both the Mid's and Hi-rev pipes. The motors had some good power but for the price I'm sure you can get ahold of a another builder and get more for MUCH less. What type of riding are you going to be doing and maybe we could give you some other options if your interested?

But.. Their pipes are my favorites for woods/dune riding!

hey thanks, i know they are kinda expensive but thought they would be really good quality and they have been proven to be a strong builder of the engine. and if i got all the work done by them then it would be easier and just better i guess.

I mainly just do play riding along beaches, sand tracks and sand dunes. i actually live in Tasmania, an island state of Australia. we have some decent riding places in terms of dunes...nothing the size of what you get in america but sweet none the less.

the main problem with living down here is that noone has any idea of banshees. porting especially. i would have to order everything which doesnt worry me that much because then i can smash every 4-stroker down here!

other than the PT mids or Hi pipes, i been looking at the DMC alien or 916, pro circuit, and maybe toomey T5 or T6 (thinking these might be a bit too much of a hi rev pipe... tho i could always add some mods the engine for a bit more bottom end)

I guess mods i would do first are pipes, reeds, cool head, domes, adjustalble timing plate, carbs, K&N Xstream powerlid and filters, lightened flywheel, clutch (rekluse pro clutch?)

Cheers guys

Your on the right track.

The mods you listed are all nice. I'd look into a pro-flow kit with a K&N filter though instead of the powerlid and just get a standard replacement clutch..

there are a few builders on this site that can point you in the right direction and are more then capable of handling your motor work!

quick reply...thanks.

ok then thanks yea i thought these mods would give pretty nice power increase and a better broader powerband. pro flow kit u say...ok then ill have a look at that one for sure!

are there any mods i have not considered before i have to move into porting?????? and how big can i go with domes before having to run race gas????

it would be very handy to find a good capable engine builder some where in australia but id have to look into that.

thanks alot

anymore info would be great

Your octane requirments is going to depend on your elevation, compression and timing.

21cc domes at sea level is usually a pretty safe choice to stay on pump gas with advanced timing.

ok then yea i understand that, im at sea level! and also have read some stuff on domes, i should stay above 20cc, so 21 or 22cc would work good, and will keep the compression down and therfore not needing race gas. correct?

timing would be about +3 or +4 to be safe.

would there be any advantage in some aftermarket pistons or are stock good enough for what i want??

and not sure about sizes of carbs either>?>?

Wiseco pistons are probably your best bet if you need to replace the top end. And for the size of carbs, your stockers will probably be good for the mods you plan on getting first. Or if you wanted you could get some 28's and then if you plan on doing more engine mods, the 28's will be able to handle that power as well.

ok ok sweet thanks mate, thought they would be the best ones to get!!!

so as far as carbs, what size are the stokers??? so 28s would handle what sort of engine work... you mean a port job???

cheers

Here is my vote (what i have on my bros bike and my bike before the cub) T5's great dune pipe in my opinion, i liked the powerband where it was for the sand. VF3's, coolhead with 21cc domes, timing +4, K&n pods or a proflo adaptor and k&n in the box, no lid. With that combo, jetted and tuned right, you will give most 4 strokes fits. If you decide you want more, get the cylinders ported. Carbs would be my last mod as the stockers rock with a bolt on bike, and a lot of guys rock the stockers on ported bikes. FYI, the stockers are 26mm

cool thanks for the input, great to hear a few different thoughts that are mostly the same but with a couple of differences!

pretty much the combo of bolt on mods i was thinking. so it would give the 4 pokers a run for their money??? sweet!!!!

ok thats interesting about the carbs....i can see why with just bolt on mods. 26mm ok nice, i really didnt have a clue.

Cool heads and NOSS heads are pretty much the same yea??? oh and other than jetting it what did you mean by tuning it more???

i have thought about and read up on t5's and hear alot of good stuff on them, a few dont like them but most love them. i wouldnt get T6s for the fact of me most likely wanting more and more power and gettin the engine ported and/or stroked one day! haha.

though i am looking more and the pt hi's or DMC atm moment and maybe PC's (but hear they can be jumpy around the powerband)

maybe ill look at getting a really decent 2nd hand banshee with one of these pipes mentioned and then see what its like and change if a have too.

cheers.... duneblazer

I have the national kit on my shee. For what it is your not going to beat it. The Reeds, carbs porting and pipes all work PERFECT together, You get a SUPER smooth powerband. I race flattrack and am going on 2 years on the same motor, so there shits going to last if you take care of it. You might be able to get more from another builder But Everything from that national kit works so good together. From my experiences drag racing at the dunes other shees dont touch that duncan motor. If you have any questions about it you can pm me.

I dont have the full engine kit, but I have the Hi-revs and I absolutely love them! Best purchase I have made yet for this thing.

Porting will be next.

thanks for the reply! that is what i was thinkin, interms of power, reliability and build quality. 2 years is a decent amount of time, and there is no doubt id look after mine!!!! so racing flat track you would run the hi revs right??? which port option did you go for?? low mid or hi?

thanks
