So do i need to change the stator AND the CDI plugs? I would just switch the top end but the reason i bought a new engine is beacuse in the '97 motor the right piston blew apart there was a hole in it and tiny pieces of metal went down into the crank and i dont know if it cause any damage down there. I cleaned it out really good but i just decided to buy a new engine and rebuilt it.

this isn't rocket science. If you dont have the right stator on the new motor, then you swap the stator onto it from the old motor. Now if you did that, why would you need a new cdi plug?

thats what i say too........just change the stators.........
