peak-j Posted May 3, 2008 Report Posted May 3, 2008 You might pull your side cover off and make sure nothing came loose in there. Sounds like the stator to me, but we'll see what others have to say. Quote
peterlocal22 Posted May 3, 2008 Author Report Posted May 3, 2008 for the most part the bike will not start. it seems like it will start every 500 th kick. when a stator dies is it completely dead or do they die slowly? Quote

Wheatchex Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 If no power to anything, it most likely is a bad connection or bad ground. Time to get out the multimeter and start checking wires and switches for continuity. Hopefully you have a clymer or shop manual to get the wiring diagram. The stock stators have been known to fail due to the epoxy that's used to cover the wires on the poles. I had one go bad although it was on the engine side and not the lighting side. Had it rewound at Ricky Stator. I don't know if he is still in business though. Still having it rewound is a better option than buying a new one from Yamaha. Brian Quote
