bearing circlips

how many circlips on the crank bearing and trans bearings. I crack open the case and found only one on each bearing, I looked in the manuel and it only shows one . I talked to the dealer and them to sead one. so why would they grove all around the whole bearing boss if the circlips are only half a circle.

I've read that you can install 2, but it seems that 1 is sufficient on a stock motor.
