peterlocal22 Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 well i put an adj. timing plate, case saver, billet impellar, first off it wont start but i have a feeling it might be no spark because the plugs on his quad always seem to foul. if its not the spark could it be from installing one of the mods i mentioned? also this is the part that im really puzzled about, when i kick it, the kick starter will go all the way down to the peg area and then shot back up real hard and quick. almost busted my foot a couple times. does this have anything to do with the mods? thanks peter Quote
xXBlessedWithDeathXx Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 That would probably be your timing, adjust it back to zero and see what happens. i would bet the problem will be fixed. Quote

LS1Inferno Posted April 28, 2008 Report Posted April 28, 2008 make sure the springs and little holder cip thing behind the kick in the case is in ther right place Quote

dajogejr Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 It's kinda rare for a kickback unless you got a lot of compression and timing. Did you set the air gap for the pickup coil after you put the plate on?? Quote
peterlocal22 Posted April 29, 2008 Author Report Posted April 29, 2008 no, I dont evan know what that is or how to go about it? i do know the compression is high in this machine. can you help me out? thanks Quote
dajogejr Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 Ok...if you're looking at the flywheel with the stator side cover off...at about 4 to 5 o clock, there is a little black box, two scews hold it on. The flywheel has two nubs on it. Turn the flywheel so one of these nubs is lined up with this black pickup coil. Between the nub and this pickup there should be .015 to .020 clearance. Much more than .025 and it might not spark strong enough... You loosen the two small phillips to slide it closer/further from the flywheel nubs. Quote
peterlocal22 Posted April 29, 2008 Author Report Posted April 29, 2008 dajogejr, this all makes sense now. when i took the stock stator plate off and put on the adj stator plate i removed the little black box. when i put it back on i did not measure any gap so this hopefully is the problem. it also took a ton of kicks to get it started thats when i relized the kick starter came flying back at me. also when it did start it wasnt running properly could this all be related to the gap? thanks Quote
dajogejr Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 if you're getting poor or intermittent spark, absolutely it could be the problem. Since you didn't check it, start there. Could always be something else....but check that first. Quote
