bansheejoel Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 well i finally got my clutch basket off to adjust the shift shaft and found some hot spots on on the steel plates, only 3 had hot spots and they were only about 1 inch long...is that normal for a clutch only having 5 hours on it? Could it be that the grooves in my basket arnt letting the plates slide freely if so is there a way to fix it? and the bracket with the two teeth that goes on the shift star, should that be able to wiggle back and forth a little? thanks for all of your help guys! MILO Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 you will run into some clutch issues if the fingers of the basket are grooved. i've heard of people filing them down to smooth them out again if they are mild grooves, but it's only a temporary fix. it doesn't take much of a groove for it to affect your clutch performance. i would suggest getting a billet basket while you have it apart. bansheejoel Posted April 9, 2008 Author Report Posted April 9, 2008 is it common to have hot spots on the steel plates or is that because of something else? Quote
BellicoseBanshee Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 The basket is relatively inexpensive and is EASY to install. theshee's basket thread Quote
bansheejoel Posted April 9, 2008 Author Report Posted April 9, 2008 The basket is relatively inexpensive and is EASY to install. theshee's basket thread yeah there like 150-200 but i dont have that much burning a hole in my pocket yet, i will buy one next winter i just need to know if grooves will cause the hot spots or is that b/c i didnt have my clutch adjusted right....thanks Quote
shanYE west Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 I dont think the grooves in the basket could cause your pack to overheat... I think that would be more from it not being adjusted correctly. Quote
