bklf7 Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 (edited) So I was talking to a buddy at work and was telling him that I needed to jet my banshee at full throttle in 6th gear because I have seen and been told that before. He said why cant you do it in 2nd or 3rd at full throttle? I didnt have a good answer for him. So my question is do I need to be in 6th gear or can I do it in 2nd 3rd or even 4th and still be accurate? Also if I should be in 6th what are some reasons for it. Thanks in advance. crustydemon Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 Just do it in 5th. There is no need to do it in 6th but you need to let it wind out a little so dont do it in a lower gear because you wont get an accurate enough reading. Quote
dajogejr Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 You need to read the plugs by placing the most load on the engine. 6th is ideal...but, WOT to 5th will be fine. Just make sure you warm it up on old plugs, swap them once warm, go WOT, shut it off, then put the old plugs back in to get to camp. Quote
BellicoseBanshee Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 (edited) For best results: Plug Chop The whole point of using the top gear is to put the maximum load on the engine. The plug chop does not mention this, but it is best to accelerate on a slight incline as well. Using 5th gear would not be the most accurate, but it will be much closer than 2nd, 3rd, or 4th. EDIT: Guess I took too long. Edited April 8, 2008 by BellicoseBanshee Quote
