xXBlessedWithDeathXx Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 ok, when the bike is at idle or low rpm for a long period of time i foul plugs. black and very wet. at top end it cleans the plug to a white bownish color. thats good. i`m happy with that. i lowered the float bowl today a few hairs and it sucks the bowl dry so i know its not float height. i put a smaller pilot (45) in and its the same. i think i had a 50 in it. the needle pin is all the way down. if i pull it up a clip it will foul sooner. that is a (CG) pin. the air screw is 2 turns out. i just cant get it. its a 35mm PWK 2 in 1 carb. any help will be appreciated. also is a cel needle pin thicker then a cg? i have a cel so i`m wondering. BellicoseBanshee Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 Got this from here: Keihin Jetting, it helped me in the past. 1/4 to 3/4 throttle jet needle: the jet needle is comprised of five major elements. 1. straight diameter section: in keihin carbs either the last two digit or the last letter denote the diameter of the needle. The higher the last two numbers the leaner the needle the lower the letter the richer the needle. By going to a thinner needle there is a larger area between the jet needle and needle jet supplying a richer mixture. 2. length of the straight section: this determines at which point the needle taper will start relative to the clip position. If you have to run your clip in the highest position a needle with a longer straight section will need to be used. 3. needle clip position: this works in conjunction with the length of the straight section. If the engine is too rich above a quarter throttle raising the needle clip (#1 in illus.) will lean the mixture. 4. needle taper: a larger taper will result in a leaner mixture in the first half of the taper and a richer mixture in the last half of the needle. For example, a 1.34 taper will be richer in the first half and leaner in the second half of the taper than a 1.45 taper needle. 5. number of tapers: the needle can have one or more tapers. The number of tapers is not usually changed. Quote
xXBlessedWithDeathXx Posted April 6, 2008 Author Report Posted April 6, 2008 Thanks a lot. i think that will help. it says turning air / fuel mixture screw counter-clockwise leans the mixture off idle. i`m almost definite i had it backwards. Quote
dajogejr Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 PM Snopcynski....he's the resident 1 into 2 expert....sorry I'm no help there. Quote
Snopczynski Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 It runs like shit because your running a twin carb needle in a single carb setup. float height is also crucial (11mm). Link to a search I did. Quote

xXBlessedWithDeathXx Posted April 10, 2008 Author Report Posted April 10, 2008 I just wanted to say thanks on the info. i got a eej needle in today and the plugs are dry. thanks a million. Quote
BellicoseBanshee Posted April 10, 2008 Report Posted April 10, 2008 After looking at the chart, Snop's recommendation seemed to make sense to me. I am glad that it made a big difference. I am a needle nitpick myself, haha! Quote

I am a needle nitpick myself, haha! it was bad for me. it would run decent but it would also foul plugs. they couldnt have bin any wetter. now they are dry  . i went out to see the reading on the plugs for the main and seen a cop so i came back home. but all in all the pilot is a 45, main is 160 and i now i need to go bigger on the main. i just didnt get a chance to open her up.
