Unfortunately it is not that simple. I found out the hard way with my 06. There are a ton of adapters that you have to use to put in an aftermarket stereo. You didn't say if yours had Bose, On-Star, XM etc because they all factor in on what you want to swap. Check out www.dieselplace.com ( even if it is a gasser ) and look in the audio section. Should answer what all you will need and what decks are compatable.

i dont care about xm...onstar should still work... i just wannna swap the unit..

as far as installing... my friend is very good at car radios... he just dont know what model i should buy...

i have the premium radio i just hate that it only holds 1 cd.. and would like the navigation

All i am saying is do the research. Shit doesn't just plug right into your stock wiring. I have XM and Bose in mine ( No On-Star ) and between those it was going to run me nearly 700.00 between adapters and the deck. That wasn't even a Nav. unit either.

the steering wheel controls won't work right without adapters and what not as well.

that dont bother me to much..

Chevrolet's radios are a computer. My step-dad is a tech at a chevy dealership, and I am also ASE certified in auto mechanics. To install an aftermarket radio, you are looking at a nightmare. Twistedtrik is right on point. It's gonna cost you out the ass to get it right. Everything that is programmable on a Chevrolet, is done through the radio. Examples: reseting dummy lights in the dash, seatbelt alarms, low tire pressure sensors, daytime running lights. The list goes on. Look in your manual, under programmable options. You'll see. It sucks. Whoever came up with this design, is an ass monkey.

all that trouble so you can put multiple discs inside? cd changers suck, i would always forget which cd was in which slot and then byt he time you get the one playing you want, you could have just hit eject and put a new one in 5 times, save your money and buy a fake gold emblem kit, i hear staten island hoes love that

Not too sure what it takes.

Check out chevytruckworld.com. I used to be a regular there like I am here now. I would bet someone has done a write-up or thread about it by now.
