cubs are a drag racing cylinder right out of the box. You can castrate them down to try and get more bottom end but why would you want to??

what kind of riding do you do?

if you are not drag racing?dunning I would say dont wast your money.

Where do you ride and what do you plan on doing with it?

More timing and more compression will help you keep bottom end...

What kind of pipes are you running?

A 4 mil cub has a great mid and up powerband, but it's because it's based on a drag port style layout, not the piston size or stroke of the crank. Those are just icing....

Even with bumped timing and compression, hard to say if it'll have the same bottom and mid as your stockers. I'm gonna say no...but somewhat close.

Here's the key, when the power comes on, it's such a night and day difference, it's going to make the bottom and mid seem like much less due to the way the power is delivered.

well i do alot of dune riding...

i also do alot of very fast bending trail type riding... and wide open areas

i understand the power increase it goin to be big.... i was just wondering due to the tourque increase with 4mm and what the drag portin takes from the bottem end if the bottem end is goining to be insanely gutless or not

This is pretty much exactly how it was explained to me. I am in the process of building a 421 for my duner. Basically I was told the bottom end on a dyno sheet would probably be better than the stocker with bolt ons, but the power comes on so hard up top, that it will seem like there was nothing down low. basically lock load and hold on for the ride.

I run my cub on fire roads, draggin, and duning. I have NO complaints. I love it and would do it again and again....

Hey 530grafix, my bike will be an almost identical match to yours powerplant wise. How do you like the +4 arm. i currently only have a +2 arm, and am going to run it for now at least to break the motor in and get everything tuned then decide on how long to go. I dont want a drag bike though and really dont want to go too long. Everybody tells me +4 is the break point between being able to still jump and dune but still keep the front somewhat manageable. what do you think? Did you have your cylinders ported? or are they as cast cubs?

You'll have to offset the power with gearing and less paddle.

I can tell you I had a 6 over on my 4 mil cub, gas, cleaned up only...with 10 paddles and it could be a handful...

You only need yours cleaned up to fix/smooth the casting flaws...that's it.

Yeah, I plan on leaving stock gearing and keeping the 21-12-8 8 paddle haulers for now to see how she acts. Hopefully we will just keep her spinning and be able to dune the hell out of it. Jeff did a clean up on mine and they look pretty good to me. Going to match port the cases to the transfer bases and put her together. Working on cleaning up the frame now and then will get back on the motor. Cant wait

Keep in mind...now.

Are you prepared to upgrade the clutch and tranny as well?

I agree w da, I upgraded to a lock out and we cleaned my tranny up. Otherwise, the clutch wouldnt hold at all....
