shee_rider_4_ever Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 is it possible to polish the black off of them or can u not do this? i think that the black is kinda ugly and want a change Quote
2001Stroker Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 The stock Yamaha pipes? I'm sure you can, since they are steel. But how are you going to protect them from rusting? Chrome plating? Intead of wasting time and money, why don't you just buy aftermarket? You'll probably have more money tied up into polishing those, than you would buying some. And, on the plus side, they would be more for performance, sound better, and when it's all said and done, probably look better. Quote

njbanshee Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 I would think it would look good in black. post a pic, maybe somone will trade. I really don't like chrome, i would rather have black. Quote
ClimbAnyHill Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 Black is the new bling, been running black pipes for years & prefer over chrome. I doubt you can polish the sheet metal & keep it shiny. Here's the bare meta & finish. [i would actually like to run bare pipes if I could.] Quote
inthemail Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 word. black IS the new bling in pipes. that bare almost looks platinum tho, too bad. as far as polishing goes, steel wool i tell ya Quote
KaosBanshee44 Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 I don't know i just like shiney things but everyone has there own opinion Quote
nayr742003 Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 Im not really a big fan of chrome or shinny things but then again there are some reallybad ass looking bikes on here(kaos got a sweet one with alot of shinneyies) but as for black goes i like it alot i dont like to wash my bike after every ride so it makes it easier for me. basically its all in what you want you van polish chrome or paint them any freakin color yeah thats it maybe we can start a new trend paint them some wild color and see if it catches on to other riders Quote
njbanshee Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 Chrome won't get you home, but it sure as hell will get you laid. In other words it doesn't help performance, but the girls seem to like it. Quote
inthemail Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 Chrome won't get you home, but it sure as hell will get you laid. thats because it doubles as a mirror for makeup application Quote
ClimbAnyHill Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 Ha haa.. I couldn't run chrome pipes, I have nothing to compliment them. + My top end is all matte black, went for that stealth look [stock look  ], and most seem to thing so when I pull up to the line.. but that's a diff story top of the hill. Quote
shee_rider_4_ever Posted March 28, 2008 Author Report Posted March 28, 2008 sorry i havn't been near a computer the last few days.. i will post some pics of the pipes later on sometime today and maybe someone would like to trade or something for a set of chrome ones. Quote
SQUIRREL MASTER Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 if you had cpi's i would have traded you my chrome cpi's for your blacks. im not really into the toomey pipes. stick with the black look and try to get other black pieces or powdercoat some stuff black shouldnt look bad. Quote
