Twistedtrik Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 So I went out to Hot Wells this weekend. My Shee runs great before we leave to go to the dunes. Get there still runs great and I am out tearing up the small dunes and it just dies. I thought i had hit the kill switch on accident but it still wouldn't fire. My wife pulls up and points to the ground and there is my CDI box and voltage regulator and wires laying there. The fucking bracket broke off the frame and got caught in the chain. So I reconnect the plugs and hold on to the whole setup ( while getting shocked to shit ) and rode back to camp. I fix it all temporarily and the bike runs fine but is harder to start. I go to run the hill and every run I get into 3rd and it starts to bog like it's running out of fuel. I downshift to 2nd and it starts to pull again all the way up. I noticed when I got home that I didn't get 1 of the grounds by the CDI remounted, would this cause the problem? Maybe the bike can't pull my big ass up the hill in 3rd? Checked plugs and they are brown. I am running 89 mixed 32:1 Klotz Super Techinplate, CPI BB in frames, +4 timing, Pro Flow intake ( no box ), 350 mains otherwise stock. It runs fine flat but put it on a hill and it goes to crap. I got tired of getting beat by 450r's and LTZ450's so I stayed away from the hill after the first 2 days. Quote
shanYE west Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 Sounds like your getting a weak spark. Could be the ground causing it. Quote
Twistedtrik Posted March 25, 2008 Author Report Posted March 25, 2008 Well that's what I kinda figured. It's the ground that mounts right to the CDI/voltage regulator. I weigh in at 265 and run 20" 8 paddle Extremes. I couldn't see how it wouldn't be able to pull 3rd up the hill with me on it. Also, I hooked up the ground yesterday and noticed I still have 3 wires left. I have no taillight right now so I assume black is the ground for that, but I still have a yellow wire and a blue wire. Which is for the taillight and what is the other for? Quote
Dinner Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 I'm guessing since your Banshee is an 03...one wire will be for marker light, while the other wire will be for brake light? Quote
Twistedtrik Posted March 25, 2008 Author Report Posted March 25, 2008 Not sure. I have a serious Frankenbike going on. It is registered as a 96 but has 03 running gear and swingarm. I checked the brakes for a stop light switch and have none. i am going to check for power on each when I get home and see what either does. Quote
