Erwin8r Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 I am picking up my first ever Banshee tonight--an '06 Black SE model. It is bone-freakin'-stock... I've done some research here (learned about the TORS, etc.), and am just looking for some tips on a good exhaust system, carb jetting, etc. I do mostly duning (matter of fact, the Banshee will be all dunes--my KFX450R will be the trails/desert ride). I also posted a similar question in the "General Discussions" forum, and got one good solid answer (FMF Fattys with K&N pods), and was just wondering if anyone else had similar ideas and tips, or maybe even a system for sale. Thanks!! Quote
hyperlite33 Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 I would recommend the Toomey T5's as a good all around pipe. I used to have FMF pipes and can't believe the difference in performance between the two. Quote

Okay, after a whirlwind of ups, downs, etc., I wound-up with an '02 Shee! It already has a set of Toomey T5's, K&N Filters, and 240 mains with 25 or 27.5 (he couldn't remember...) pilots. Does this sound ok? The Shee is otherwise stock. I way fooking excited!!! After getting my ass handed to me on more than one occasion, and even making fun of my brother for wanting an antiquated, blue-smoke-spitting, funky-looking relic of the 80's, it looks like I have finally caught the bug. I wanted a Banshee. There is nothing like the wail of a two-stroke, twin-cylinder machine being given the full monty... They just plain ROCK!!! And so I had to have one.... Anyway, back to reading... I have a lot to learn! Quote
okbeast Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 I'd definately check that jetting. What is your riding elevation? With T-5's and K&N's you should at least be in the 300 range IMO. Quote

Good ball park for sea level? Good jet kit recommendation? I'm used to buying Dynojet or Factory jet kits for street bikes (or was.. all the new EFI stuff made PCIII's rule I guess...). Bansh-eman Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 dont bother with jet kits. buy the jets you need. With stock carbs, airbox lid off and pipes around sea level your going to need around a 310 main, 27.5 pilot, needle 3rd or 4th clip. Quote

The Toomet T5 "jet kit" calls for 280 mains and 25 (or stock size) pilots, with the toomey needles on middle clip. This is what I ran, and it as perfect. Quote
