yes the ball is in ..the clutch seems all together properly..ive rebuilt prob 5 engines and never had this prob..im wondering if there is anything in the gear box that can cause this,,

You say that it doesn't dis-engage the clutch. Is there any tension when you twist the clutch lever arm? Are the clutch alignment marks lined up?

what i should say is that the clutch seems to be functioning fine there is plenty of tention and pressure when u pull it the plates come apart..how ever this does not over ride the gear..ie if u put the bike in first gear and pull in the clutch when engine is not going u cant roll the bike forward..its as if the clutch has not been pulled at all..!!

i found the problem...it had the wrong thrust washer btween the clutch basket and the hub..the inside diameter was too big with made it slip down just enuf to bind when the big nut was tighted up..all fixed now..:)

Been there and done that. When I replaced my basket on my 4 mil cub build, the old thrust washer stuck to the stock basket, I never even noticed....:) Got it all back together before I had my whoops moment...:)
