crustydemon Posted March 11, 2008 Report Posted March 11, 2008 Does anyone know a good way to get melted aluminum out of a chrome pipe without wrecking it. Its got a good even coat in it as far as I can see. Couldnt have done a nicer job if I tried. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted March 11, 2008 Report Posted March 11, 2008 how exactly do you have an aluminum coating inside the pipe? Quote

dajogejr Posted March 11, 2008 Report Posted March 11, 2008 Acetone or acid. Unless your pipes are paper thin, it won't effect the chrome on the outside of the pipe. When a piston melts in a nikasil bore engine, they use acid to get the aluminum deposits clean from the bore. Quote
crustydemon Posted March 11, 2008 Author Report Posted March 11, 2008 It got in there from a melted piston.Ok, thanks I'll try the acid and see if it will come out. Quote
IrideA250R Posted March 11, 2008 Report Posted March 11, 2008 muriatic acid. Available at a hardware store etc. Just don't get it on anything aluminum you care about. This stuff also works good for cleaning your garage floor in a diluted fashion prior to enameling it Quote

Bansh-eman Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 humm thats wierd i have never heard of a piston being melted to the point that it will liquify and travel into the expansion chambers. Quote
