idabanshee Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 Hello Everyone. I have a problem i hope you all can help me solve. I have a 2003 With some mods. 35 Keihin Carbs 12 inch pod filters, Vforce 3's, Billet Intake with built in crossover, Barnett clutch,Wiesco Prolites STD bore. Think thats all.. Well anyways I just got the 35's for it supposedly ready to play for my setup. The company from California Set them at.. Here's whats in the carbs that they told me.. Tell me if you guys think its wrong 40 Pilot 150 Main DGK #3 Clip 1 1/2 T/O ABPS . I just got them today removed the old carbs (That ran awesome) and the stock intake boots replaced the carbs with these and added the new billet intake.. Now for how she handles after the swap out. It Idles ok it will die if left alone for a minute (Even warm) when you lightly feather it at low rpm it will bog. Once its wound up it's ready to play. I checked the plugs and there doing fine there not white and there just a tad black (I ran a tad fat on the old carbs) Im mixing at 40:1 and I live in Boise Elevation 2700 feet or so..... Can you boys help my shee scream again?!?! Thanks IdaBanshee Quote
Bansh-eman Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 so no porting or pipes? if so those carbs are too big. also the jetting is off. at sea level for a piped ported motor with 35's jetting would start around 155main 45 pilot CEL 3rd clip 2.5turns those will get it VERY close to most motors so you should only have to go one size smaller on the main and pilot (round about) Quote

You can still get them to run good though. I would start by turning you airscrew another turn out to see if that gets you lean enough to bring up your idle and get rid of that bog. You may be rich on the needle as well. You can try to raise the clip one notch as well(try one thing at a time, then combo of both to see if any change). If turning the airscrews out helps, go down on you pilot, and you should be right in the ball park. You should really get a new set of plugs so you can read whats going on w/these carbs. Have to get you air/fuel mix down again. Quote

Just want them running good for now. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 well if you have no porting they are a little overkill, but you can get them to run your just going to lose some bottom end. id say put your other carbs back on until you get the motor ported and save your self the headache Quote
